Pilot Line Manufacturing Engineer

Quantumscape is looking for a Process Engineer that will be responsible for starting up, developing, and optimizing processes to improve product quality and reliability, working on process yield improvement, cost reduction, productivity improvement, and risk management as well as resolving manufacturing line problems.

You will also identify, diagnose and resolve assembly process-related problems by applying failure analysis, FMEA, 8D, or SPC / FDC methodology.

Additional responsibilities include coordinating and carrying out the process, equipment, and material evaluation / optimization to implement changes at the process step, leading and participating in yield improvement and cost reduction activities, handling new process baseline qualifications, and managing, auditing, and liaising with material suppliers to achieve quality, cost and risk management objectives.

Responsibilities :

Identify, diagnose and resolve assembly and process-related problems.

Effectively communicate issues that may cause yield loss, excursions, defects, tool restrictions, or output loss.

Coordinate and execute the process, equipment, and material evaluation / optimization initiatives and implement changes at the process step.

Lead / participate in continuous yield improvement and cost reduction activities.

Validate and fan out new process baseline qualified, including new process, tools, and / or materials for new product introduction.

Develop statistical process control programs to enhance line performance.

Tackle required safety training and conducts all work per safety regulations, follow up on related issues immediately, and submit good catches for safety incidents.

Ensures accurate tool documentation / reaction mechanisms exist and submits updates to content when needed.

Partner with shift teams, process owners, and operations leaders to resolve tool process issues, improve tool output, and set daily priorities.

Collaborate with other shift Engineers / Technicians to gather input for area improvement.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Qualifications :

Bachelor's, Master's or PhD degree in Engineering, Material Science, Physics, Chemistry, or Ceramic, or Polymer or related discipline.

Strong understanding of statistical process control (SPC) techniques.

Proven ability to communicate and present effectively including data extraction, analysis, and reporting skills (e.g. JMP, Excel etc.).

Excellent time management, organization, and prioritization skills.

Dedication to following procedures and working with minimal supervision.

Ability to partner with co-workers and contribute to a diverse team.

The ability to code in python or other programming languages is a plus.

Physical Requirements :

May work in clean room, dry room environments, wet chemistry lab and / or wear neoprene or vinyl gloves for 15-30% of the time.

May frequently reach above shoulder heights and below the waist.

Ability to stoop, kneel, crawl, lift, push and extend arms.
