Role description :
Arcadis is seeking a Construction Inspector , with 6 or more years experience, to join our Construction Management team based out of our Plantation, FL office.
This is an exciting opportunity for a self-motivated individual looking to join one of the best-qualified municipal consulting firms in the country.
The Construction Inspector, with the support of a strong nationally recognized technical staff, will utilize their expertise and technical knowledge of construction inspection, construction field management, QA / QC and report documentation, on various construction and / or reconstruction projects for municipal water and wastewater treatment, power generation, manufacturing facilities or other heavy construction projects.
Inspector will report to a Project / Construction Manager and may lead other inspectors in completing tasks and providing regular updates on daily construction activities.
Role accountabilities :
The Construction Inspector will observe and inspect construction work performed by contractors, perform punch list inspections, review drawings and specifications and other technical documents, prepare detailed daily activity and progress reports and participate in project schedule and contractor invoice reviews.
Other responsibilities include :
- Maintain quality assurance requirements and approach and monitor code compliance issues.
- Inspect and determine deviations from general compliance with Contract Documents; clearly and professionally inform the contractor of required corrections.
- Review submittals and other construction documents and recommend technical solutions.
- Regularly attend and participate in construction meetings, safety meetings / updates and project site coordination meetings.
- Monitor and document contractor resource utilization (labor, materials and equipment) for field changes, and time and material work and assist with negotiation of basic field construction changes.
- Verify equipment and materials installation for payment purposes.
- Maintain Payment Quantity documentation.
- Perform mathematical calculations as necessary during inspection activities.
- While performing daily inspections, the inspector will be required to ensure Arcadis project safety guidelines are being met.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Experience :
Required Qualifications
6 years of construction inspection experience.
Key Skills / Attributes
- Experience with construction inspection activities minimum. Preferred civil and utility experience on heavy civil construction projects including but not limited to earth work and embankments.
- Demonstrated skills in identifying, analyzing, and providing innovative solutions to problems, along with a high level of math aptitude.
- Proficient in MS Office Suite (particularly MS Excel, MS Word, MS SharePoint and Outlook).
- Position requires employee to work year-round in various weather conditions.
Preferred Qualifications
- 10+ years of civil / utility construction inspection experience.
- Continuing Education Diploma or Certification in Construction related area, Associates Degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Construction, a related field of study or area preferred.
- NASSCO ITCP / PACP is a big plus.
- Experience with E-builder a plus.
- ACI or NICET certification is a big plus.
- OSHA 10 Safety and Confined Space Entry Training.
- Active participation in a regional or national professional association.
