Primary Responsibilities :
- Repair engines, sheet metal, structural, hydraulic, electrical, power train, and general mechanical maintenance of moderate difficulty.
- Make repairs to aircraft and follow direction of higher graded workers.
- Troubleshoot malfunctions in aircraft structure, landing gear, flight surfaces, controls, anti-icing, pneudraulic, engines, auxiliary power unit, and ventilation and heating systems.
- Repair, replace, and rebuild aircraft structures, such as wings and fuselage, and functional components using hand tools, power tools, and machines.
- Read and interpret manufacturers' and airline's maintenance manuals, service bulletins, technical data, engineering data, and other specifications.
- Replace or repair worn or damaged components, removing engines from aircraft, disassembling and inspecting parts for wear, cracks, or defects, and repairing or replacing defective engine parts.
- Adjust, repair, or replace electrical wiring systems and aircraft accessories; perform preflight, thru-flight, and post-flight maintenance inspections.
- Supervise the jacking and towing of aircraft, enter maintenance records, and verify satisfactory performance of work.
Qualifications and Experience :
- May be required to be licensed by the Federal Aviation Administration.
- High School diploma or GED is mandatory.
- Thorough understanding of DOD aircraft maintenance processes preferred.
- Must have a working knowledge of computers (input / extract data).
- Must speak, read, write, and understand English.
- Obtain / maintain security clearance, DOD CAC privileges, and Special Access Badge requirements.
- Must be able to work days, nights, and weekends as required.
- Current valid U.S. Driver's License.
- Minimum 2 years of Aviation Maintenance experience as an Aviation Machinist Mate (AD) required.
- Collateral Duty Inspector (CDI) Power Plant - Preferred.
- Automated Track and Balancing System (ATABS) Course - Preferred.
- Must have a working knowledge of aircraft technical orders / job guides / publications.
- Must have working knowledge of flight line operations.
Working Conditions :
Environment ranges from office to hangar and flight line, requiring extensive climbing, standing, stooping, bending, pushing, kneeling, stretching, and walking demands.
