Travel PossibleM1 is looking for a(n) Aircraft Mechanic IPrimary responsibilities include but are not limited to the following : * Aircraft Mechanics I must have a combination of experience to repair engines, sheet metal,structural, hydraulic, electrical, power train and general mechanical maintenance of moderatedifficulty, required to meet the assigned missions.
- Makes repairs to aircraft and follows direction of higher graded workers.* The Aircraft Mechanic I troubleshoots malfunctions in aircraft structure, landing gear, flightsurfaces and controls, anti- icing, pneudraulic, engines, auxiliary power unit, and ventilationand heating systems.
- This mechanic repairs, replaces, and rebuilds aircraft structures, such as wings and fuselage,and functional components including rigging, surface controls, and plumbing and hydraulicunits, using hand tools, power tools, machines, and equipment such as shears, sheet metalbrake, welding equipment, rivet gun, and drills.
- This worker reads and interprets manufacturers' and airline's maintenance manuals, servicebulletins, technical data, engineering data, and other specifications to determine feasibility andmethod of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components.
- Work involves replacing or repairing worn or damaged components, such as carburetors,alternators, magnetos, fuel controls, fuel pumps, oil pumps, and engine mounted gearboxes,and compressor bleed valves using hand tools, gauges, and testing equipment;
removingengine from aircraft, using hoist or forklift truck, disassembling and inspecting parts for wear,cracks, security, or other defects, and repairing or replacing defective engine parts andreassembles and installs engine in aircraft.
- Job duties require that this mechanic adjusts, repairs, or replaces electrical wiring system andaircraft accessories, performs preflight, thru-flight, and post- flight maintenance inspections,performs miscellaneous duties to service aircraft, including flushing crankcase, cleaningscreens and filters, greasing moving parts, and checking brakes.
- Supervises the jacking and towing of aircraft, enters in the maintenance records description ofthe work performed and verifies the work was performed satisfactorily, service engines andairframe components at line station making repairs, short of overhaul, required to keepaircraft in safe operating condition, specialize in work, repair and modification of structural,precision, and functional spare parts and assemblies, and specialize in engine repair.
Qualifications and Experience :
May be required to be licensed by Federal Aviation Administration.* May require specialization in sheet-metal, electric work, avionics or other aircraft systems relateddisciplines.
Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) licensing of contractor employee technicalproficiency is not required.* High School diploma or GED is mandatory.
- Thorough understanding of DOD aircraft maintenance processes preferred.* Must have a working knowledge of computers (input / extract data).
- Must speak, read, write, and understand English.* Obtain / maintain security clearance, DOD CAC privileges, and Special Access Badge requirements.
- Must be able to work days, nights, and weekends as required.* Current valid U.S. Driver's License.* Ability to travel* Must be willing and able to deal with the customer and company employees in a courteous andprofessional manner.
- Must be able to meet any Government / Company licensing / qualification requirements for the position.* Minimum 2 years of Aviation Maintenance experience as an Aviation Machinist Mate (AD) required.
- Collateral Duty Inspector (CDI) Power Plant - Preferred* Automated Track and Balancing System (ATABS) Course (NATEC provides) - Preferred* Must have a working knowledge of aircraft technical orders / job guides / publications-read, interpret,follow, and comprehend schematic diagrams, drawings, charts, and technical publications.
- Must have working knowledge (aircraft / vehicle movement and safety / hazards) of flight line operations.* Have working knowledge base of DOD aviation maintenance program instruction, and understand howthe outlined policies and procedures apply to the troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of aircraftand associated systems PreferredWorking Conditions : * Environment ranges from office to hangar and flight line and requires extensive climbing,standing, stooping, bending, pushing, kneeling, stretching, and walking demands.
