Key Responsibilities
- Champions a corporate culture that emphasizes transparency, integrity, safety, environmental responsibility, employee development, diversity and inclusion, customer service, and operational excellence.
- Operates all power plant equipment of a generating unit or power plant in a safe and reliable manner to meet dispatch and availability goals resulting in efficient unit operation.
- Leads assigned shift personnel in the efficient operation of a generating unit or power plant to optimize unit availability and meet the requirements of Energy Operations and transmission control, while protecting and preserving company assets.
- Coordinates on shift maintenance activities, including equipment operation according to established guidelines and practices, and utilizing operational KPIs to ensure acceptable performance and take corrective action as necessary.
- Monitors and leads operating efforts in a manner that is environmentally responsible, consistent with plant, division and corporate goals.
- Develops and manages O&M Budgets to meet work group and plant financial goals and targets.
- Investigates equipment problems and verifies they are properly identified and documented to insure proper maintenance
- Provides orientation and training for new team members and gives feedback and coaching as needed to improve employee performance.
- Provides immediate supervision to on shift team in accomplishing the needed tasks to operate an electrical generation unit or facility.
- Interacts with team and others in an approachable manner and has the ability to understand and influence others.
- Decisions impact the immediate area of responsibility and are governed by operating standards and work routines that encourage the use of employee initiative.
- Considers potential operational impacts beyond the immediate problem, and accomplishes work with minimal supervision.
Qualifications
Required Education, Skills & Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent with two years technical training or equivalent
- 5+ years of related experience
- 2+ years people management experience, preferred
- Experience and ability to lead staff across projects towards a common vision
- Knowledge of standard business practices and professionalism
- Ability to interact with all levels of employees to address difficult issues
- Ability to manage high workloads and conflicting priorities
- Ability to operate effectively and proactively with an employee centric mindset
- Detailed-oriented and high work standards in support of seamless execution
- Act decisively while thinking strategically
- Drive issues to resolution while maintaining an atmosphere of collaboration
