We have an exciting opportunity for the role of Counsel supporting Raytheon’s Advanced Products & Solutions Strategic Business Unit (APS SBU).
This role reports to the APS SBU General Counsel and directly supports key business stakeholders, programs, and functions.
The Counsel serves as the primary point of contact for program guidance and direction on all legal and compliance matters, responsible for providing timely, relevant, and pragmatic legal, business, and strategic advice to help the SBU achieve its business and financial objectives.
The APS SBU Legal team supports the business as an embedded partner present at all levels within the SBU and at key operational events (e.
g., monthly financial / business reviews, estimate at completion reviews, staff meetings). Critical to this role is the Counsel’s ability to quickly establish and maintain trust and foster a positive reputation with key program and functional leaders as their primary go-to partner.
Preference is for candidate to be onsite at either the El Segundo or McKinney facilities. Raytheon extends flexibility to its onsite employees and interested candidates should apply and plan to discuss onsite expectations in any scheduled interviews.
What You Will Do :
- Support the internal customer as a strategic partner in the legal function and provide sound advice to team members and members of senior management on legal and compliance matters.
- Review, draft, negotiate, and advise on a wide variety of government or commercial agreements, including FAR-based contracts and subcontracts, international commercial transactions, other transaction agreements, teaming or joint venture arrangements, and intellectual property and non-disclosure agreements.
- Address legal risk and protect the company’s interests while developing compliant business solutions, understanding related business risks and strengthening partnerships.
- Interpret complex laws, rulings, and regulations and provide expertise and opinions to individuals and businesses on legal issues to ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
- Draft or assist in drafting legal, business, or commercial communications to internal customers and third parties.
- Conduct professional presentations for various purposes and audiences (e.g., presenting legal matters to senior business or Legal team leadership, training business or legal personnel on legal matters).
- Manage the general counsel budget and outside counsel matters in your purview.
Qualifications You Must Have :
- Typically requires 10+ years of legal experience, including 5+ years of legal experience at a law firm, government or in-house
- A Juris Doctorate is required
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.
S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
- Currently admitted and in good standing with at least one U.S. State bar, and eligibility to represent Raytheon as an in-house legal counsel in job location
- 5 or more years of experience working with U.S. Government contracts
Qualifications We Prefer :
- Defense industry experience
- Extensive experience supporting a range of government contract compliance issues including the FAR, DFARS, Procurement Integrity, Truth In Negotiations Act, Organizational Conflicts of Interest, cost principles, and fiscal law
- Significant experience in reviewing, drafting, negotiating, and advising on a wide variety of government or commercial agreements, including international transactions
- Experience in supporting litigation, bid protests, or disputes / claims
- Knowledge of regulatory and compliance matters that could impact Raytheon pursuits, contracts, and operations
- Understanding of data rights and other intellectual property issues
- Understanding of cost accounting and finance issues in the defense industry
- Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills and ability to communicate complex matters effectively and persuasively
- Demonstrated leadership skills, sound judgment, and attention to detail
- Ability to interact effectively and collaboratively in a team environment with multiple levels of the organization and foster positive working relationships with peers, internal clients and external customers

The salary range for this role is 143,000 USD - 287,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and / or the company’s performance.
This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
