We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to work onsite at our client's DTE Fermi Nuclear Power Plant. The successful candidate will join a team of engineers and designers focused on preparing modification packages for mechanical systems within the nuclear power industry.
Job Responsibilities :
- Develop design modification packages for mechanical systems at the nuclear power plant.
- Perform engineering calculations, including hydraulic analysis, equipment sizing, HVAC sizing, heat load analysis, and pressure loss calculations.
- Create mechanical design and procurement specifications.
- Prepare engineering drawings such as Piping and Instrument Diagrams (P&ID), General Arrangement (GA), Equipment Plan, and Isometric drawings.
- Develop material and work hour estimates, along with engineering and design schedules.
- Exercise sound engineering judgment to assess complex issues and ensure compliance with codes and design criteria.
- Collaborate with plant stakeholders to define project scope / requirements and support construction, implementation, and startup activities.
Minimum Qualifications :
- Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from a four-year accredited institution.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, including at least 2 years in the nuclear field.
- Ability to obtain unescorted access to a nuclear power plant.
Preferred Qualifications :
- NANTeL Certified in the Nuclear Standard Design Process (IP-ENG-01).
- Professional Engineering (PE) license in the US.
- Experience with fluid flow software (AFT FATHOM or equivalent).
- Experience with Fire Protection and Detection Systems.
Salary : $110,000 - $120,000 (Depending on experience and qualifications), plus benefits and PTO.
