Overview
The primary purpose of this position is to support the supply chain / logistics and purchasing teams to maintain appropriate inventory levels shipped to suppliers and ensure timely and accurate delivery of inventory.
Responsibilities
- Maintains applicable forecast / inventory system for specific customers within guidelines. Inclusive of updating material relevant information and processing PO confirmations in the system.
- Process, track, expedite and ensures purchase orders (POs) are up to date and inventory levels are maintained. Collaborate with freight forwarders and suppliers to assure on time shipments;
resolve discrepancies or elevate to Senior Buyer / Trade Managers.
- Communicate with supplier customer service representative, warehouse and freight forwarders on routine issues. Works with transportation companies and US Customs clearance for each purchase order within guidelines.
- Review and analyze monthly inventory investment by supplier as needed.
- Supports Purchasing Manager and more senior Buyers as needed.
Qualifications
- Preferred Bachelor’s Degree
- Up to 2 years’ experience in purchasing, logistics, or similar job required
- Inventory replenishment and transportation industry or functional experience strongly desired
- Ability to create and analyze standard reports, provide summaries and updates
- communicate efficiently both oral and written with external and internal partners
- Good organizational and analytical skills, very detail oriented
- Effective team player
- Basic to advanced computer skills in Microsoft Excel and other Office applications, basic knowledge of ERP system a plus
- Knowledge of basic arithmetic, bookkeeping and office procedures and practices
