Position Summary

Anticipated Hiring Salary Range : $70,000.00 - $76,500.00 Annually

The Director of Alumni Development reports to the Vice President for Advancement and is responsible for developing and promoting a mutually supportive relationship between the university and its alumni.

The Director is responsible to communicate with alumni through publications, other media, and personal visits; cultivate alumni donors and prospective donors;

coordinate alumni events, programs, and volunteer efforts; and serve as advisor for the Alumni Advisory Board. The Director is also responsible for managing the departmental budget.

Duties :

  • Keep and mark individual progress against annual fundraising goal.
  • Conduct personal appointments with Alumni to promote the association and develop philanthropic relationships.
  • Introduce students to philanthropy and create and promote campaign activities that help meet that objective.
  • Donor / Fundraising calls and meetings
  • Weekly Social Media posts with the goal of friend and fundraising
  • Working with Marketing and Communication to design campaigns.
  • Work with CRM
  • Coordinate and lead Homecoming for university.
  • Coordinate and lead outward facing alumni booths / events at sponsored events, in the community, on campus, etc.
  • Mailing and emails to alumni
  • Design and administer Alumni engagement events using volunteers and staff where necessary.
  • Assist with graduation events promoting Alumni relations.
  • Work with volunteers to promote the Alumni association with all graduating classes.
  • Take point on Alumni Advancement events and programs including coordination of volunteer efforts.
  • Lead and support advancement events and meetings.
  • Organize recognition events for both alumni and outstanding grads.
  • Serve as advisor for the Alumni Advisory Board.
  • Manage departmental budget.
  • Coordinate the production of marketing materials related to the Alumni and Advancement Office including, but not limited to, email, social media, and printed materials.
  • Complete tasks timely with work that is comprehensive, complete, and accurate.
  • Communicates clearly, listens attentively, and seeks to understand others
  • Collaborates productively with colleagues of varying skillset
  • Other job duties as assigned

Qualifications

Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field.
  • One year of experience in the coordination of volunteers and events.
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong presentation and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to relate to and motivate donors.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational abilities to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Progressive and proven fund raising and marketing experience.
  • Experience with CRM software.

Environmental Conditions :

  • Indoors in a normal office environment with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, fumes, vibrations, and temperature changes at least eighty percent (80%) of the time.
  • Frequent computer use at a workstation, up to eight hours per day.
  • Frequently work at a fast pace with unscheduled interruptions.
  • Drive personal or University vehicles to appointments.
  • Public contact position requiring professional apparel, personal hygiene, and grooming.

Physical Demands :

This position typically functions indoors in an office environment with light to moderate noise associated with business office equipment.

The position may involve travel for meetings and events.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to : remain in a stationary position 80 % of the time, be able to move about inside the office to access file cabinets / office machinery etc.

operate a computer and keyboard and other office productivity machinery such as calculators / copy machines / printers.

The employee is occasionally required to position self to reach items on the floor and in high cabinetry.

  • The employee must regularly lift and / or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and / or move up to 40 pounds. Employee must be able to communicate with others to exchange information including both over the telephone and in-person communication with callers and community members and be able to read a computer screen and paper documents.
