JOB SUMMARY
The Senior Property Accountant will be responsible for financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and cash management of multiple communities.
This position will report to the Controller and will be located in the corporate office located in Scottsdale, AZ.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Responsible for preparing community monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements per GAAP and within applicable reporting deadlines.
- Prepare monthly community report variance analysis, assist with annual budgets and other periodic reporting.
- Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting documentation for each community.
- Monitor / Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and inventory which are conducted at each community by the Business Office Director (Community Bookkeeper).
This will require direct communication and coordination with each community's Regional VPO, Executive Director, and Business Office Director.
- Monitor community cash activity on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
- Prepare cash flow forecasts and estimates as needed. Complete bank account reconciliations.
- Coordinate / oversee compliance with applicable accounting policies and procedures by Community Business Office Directors.
- Responsible for meeting all external financial reporting requirements as required by the company's external investors / lenders / CPAs.
- Responsible for assuring that all community accounting records and documentation are maintained properly.
- Responsible for bank reporting requirements of the community.
- Responsible for tracking capital improvement projects as required by the community.
- Other responsibilities as requested.
CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS and EXPERIENCE
- Accounting Degree or equivalent
- Minimum of 2-4 years of senior accounting experience
- Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures
- Advanced Excel skills are preferred.
- Yardi software experience is preferred.
- Experience with multi-company accounting is a plus.
- Strong communication, analytical, and multi-tasking skills.
- Ability to work with limited supervision.
WORK SETTING
- Monday to Friday
- Hybrid (in-office Scottsdale) with work-from-home flexibility.
- Minimal travel will be required.
