JOB DESCRIPTION
The Mechanical Engineer III is responsible for delivering component and subsystem level design work to support the Fueling Solutions organization’s project initiatives.
You will collaborate with cross functional groups within the business to ensure mechanical / hydraulic designs satisfy all necessary requirements including performance, cost, quality, manufacturability, scalability, etc.
You will combine your theoretical engineering background with practical industry knowledge to design, test, and launch customer-focused solutions.
This role offers a balanced mix of computer-based work (3D CAD modeling, design documentation, etc.) and in-person, hands-on experience (prototype builds, testing, etc.
This hybrid role allows some remote work, but employees must be able to come in office on short notice. Certain projects phases will allow more remote work than others.
Key Responsibilities
- Designs, develops, validates and documents fundamental function of mechanical components and systems, hydraulic systems, integration of electro-mechanical systems, and packaging of electronic systems
- Utilizes Agile & Lean development methodologies, and effectively operates with a global mindset
- Analyzes stress, deflection, and fluid flow characteristics using engineering principles, calculations, and simulation tools
- Selects and specifies materials and processes for use in final products
- Incorporates a set-based design approach, and can clearly articulate requirement trade-offs
- Implements DFx principles, where x Cost, Manufacturability, Assembly, etc.
- Exhibits project leadership and ability to manage schedules and expenses
- Interface with external suppliers and design partners to ensure adherence to schedule and quality of delivery
- Coordination with global resources throughout projects
- Constructs prototype and proof of concept models
- Limited travel including international may be an opportunity
Required :
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Expect 5-10 years mechanical engineering experience demonstrating capability of owning development and delivery of new mechanical, electro-mechanical, and / or hydraulic subsystems while interfacing in cross-functional global teams
- Ability to create detailed solid models and drawings of injection molded plastic and sheet metal parts with advanced material property knowledge, using 3D modeling software
- Proficiency in completing tolerance analyses for critical to fit and critical to quality dimensions
- Proven leadership ability in a global product development and delivery environment
- Complete development process experience, including project definition, development, testing, subsystem integration, component qualification (PPAP), release to manufacturing
- Experience with DFMEA, DOE, Project Management, and Engineering Change Processes
- Must possess strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
Desirable :
- Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Advanced usage and knowledge of CREO Parametric CAD software
- Experience in lab and manufacturing environments
- Experience using Value Add and Value Analysis techniques
- Experience with user interface design and human factors
The base compensation range for this position is $95K to $125K per year. Your actual base salary will be determined based upon a number of factors which may include relevant experience, skills, location (labor market data), credentials (education, certifications), and internal equity.
