Position : Governing Board Member (Volunteer / Unpaid) Institution : Lakewood University (100% Online, Non-Profit)
Lakewood University, a fully online and non-profit institution, is seeking dedicated and passionate individuals to join our Governing Board.
This is an unpaid volunteer position , offering the opportunity to make a lasting impact on an innovative and forward-thinking university.
Responsibilities :
- Serve as a member of the Governing Board, contributing to the strategic direction and overall governance of Lakewood University.
- Attend and actively participate in board meetings and committees.
- Provide expertise and insights into higher education, non-profit management, and organizational development.
- Collaborate with fellow board members to ensure the university's mission, values, and long-term goals are met.
- Advise on institutional policies, financial oversight, and operational decisions.
- Uphold fiduciary responsibilities and act in the best interest of the university.
Ideal Candidate :
- A strong passion for higher education and a commitment to the mission of Lakewood University.
- Experience in higher education , non-profit governance , and board leadership .
- Previous experience as a Governing Board Secretary is highly preferred.
- Familiarity with the unique challenges and opportunities in online education is a plus.
- Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
- A willingness to collaborate and contribute to the success of a growing and evolving institution.
Requirements :
- 2-3 years of experience serving on a governing board, preferably in higher education or the non-profit sector.
- Proven track record of leadership and governance within a mission-driven organization.
- Ability to commit to regular meetings and the ongoing success of Lakewood University.
