Job Responsibilities
The Field Crew / Party Chief will collect field measurements and data and provide stake-out at the direction of the Survey Project Manager or office technician.
The technician must be willing to work outside year-round and must be capable of moderate to full physical activity. Also responsible for collecting all required field data for the preparation of a variety of surveying projects for both public and private clients and utilizing DPK’s state-of-the-art instrumentation, which includes robotic total stations and GNSS / GPS.
On larger projects, the position may also include some supervisory responsibilities.
Essential Functions
- Prepare field notes, photographs, and sketches.
- Collect boundary and topographic field measurements.
- Responsible for downloading conventional and GPS field data.
- Recover and measure real property evidence.
- Perform construction layout.
- Ability to rotate, translate, and calculate survey points in the field.
- Equipment maintenance and calibration.
- Oversee the training & development of the Assistant Field Technician.
- On-site client communication.
- Participate in Health and Safety Program.
Supervisory Responsibility
This position has limited supervisory responsibilities.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
Full-time position. 40-50 hours per week / Overtime available.
Travel
Some jobs may require overnight stay.
Preferred Education and Experience
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Crew / Party Chief.
- Associates Degree in land surveying or equivalent / a Plus.
- Experience running robotic total stations and GNSS / GPS required.
- Trimble Experience a plus.
- Certification as an LSIT is a plus.
- Project experience with public utilities, energy services, and transportation.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
