Position Summary
The Micro Foreman is responsible for supervising a small crew on civil construction projects. This is a traveling position requiring flexibility to work at job sites across multiple locations. The role ensures daily tasks are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project specifications. The Micro Foreman provides hands-on leadership in the field while coordinating labor, equipment, and materials for assigned work activities.
Key Responsibilities
Supervise and lead a small crew (2–5 workers) in performing civil construction tasks such as grading, pipe installation, concrete, utilities, or sitework.
Interpret blueprints, project plans, and specifications to guide crew activities.
Ensure all work meets quality standards and project requirements.
Coordinate daily work assignments, equipment usage, and material deliveries.
Enforce safety policies and conduct daily toolbox talks.
Monitor productivity and provide feedback to improve crew performance.
Assist with hands-on construction tasks when necessary.
Communicate progress, challenges, and needs to the Project Superintendent / Foreman.
Maintain daily work logs and report labor hours, materials, and equipment usage.
Qualifications
3+ years of civil construction experience, with at least 1 year in a leadership role (lead man, crew leader, or equivalent).
Strong knowledge of civil construction practices (earthwork, utilities, paving, or concrete).
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
Excellent communication and leadership skills.
Commitment to enforcing jobsite safety standards.
Basic equipment operating skills preferred.
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
Willingness and ability to travel for extended periods as required by project assignments.
Working Conditions
Outdoor jobsite environment with exposure to weather conditions.
Requires physical activity including lifting, bending, and operating tools / equipment.
Travel between job sites across multiple states as required.
Standard work hours with possible overtime, nights, or weekends depending on project needs.
