We are currently seeking a temporary Electrical Intern to join us this summer. In this role, you will learn essential, career-developing skills from an established team of engineers.
You will gain exposure to various project types and work with clients in both the private and public sectors. As an aspiring engineer, you will see many aspects of Electrical Engineering and build upon your technical ability.
In this role, you can expect to perform the following tasks. This is not an exhaustive list :
- Learn to design lighting systems and lighting control systems to comply with energy codes.
- Learn to design electrical distribution systems, starting from the utility source to the customer panelboards and then to receptacles and equipment loads.
- Assist in cost estimate and specification preparations.
- Accompany engineers on-site visits to document existing electrical installations and identify the impact on planned renovation.
- Attend site visits during construction to confirm the installation meets the contract documents.
- Attend client meetings and represent the electrical interests of the firm.
We require :
- Enrollment in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
- Excellent interpersonal & communication skills. Connections are a critical part of how we work.
We like to see :
- 12-18 hours of Electrical Engineering courses
- Exposure to AutoCAD and Microsoft Office. Other relevant programs could include Revit, Bluebeam, Autodesk Inventor, AGI-32, or SKM / E-Tap
Physical Demands
This position is primarily sedentary with long periods of sitting, but occasional walking and lifting up to 25lbs may occur.
Occasionally bending, squatting, and reaching overhead may also occur. Additionally, extensive computer usage is required daily.
Benefits
This is a temporary position with no medical benefits or paid time off (PTO). Should the role transition into a full-time, permanent position, benefits and enrollment information will be provided.
