Yes Job Duties This position supports the main office of the Center for Career and Professional Development and testing lab as needed.
This position will be responsible for answering phones and emails, assisting with Handshake events and the job approval processl, assisting students with scheduling appointments with Career Consultants, marketing via tabling and performing event set-up / breakdown.
Must be able to professionally communicate (both verbal and written) to assist with calling and emailing flyers, event and job opportunities, and notifications to students, employers, faculty, and staff.
This position requires initiative and motivation to work independently with minimal supervision at times. Additionally, as needed the position may have to assist with supervising test candidates to ensure the efficient administration and execution of tests while maintaining the utmost level of customer service and testing integrity.
This will include greeting candidates, verifying candidate information, monitoring the examination process and maintaining the testing labs’ policies and guidelines.
Dress code is business casual.
Minimum Qualifications
- Effective communication to provide quality customer service to all students, employers, faculty, and staff
- Computer skills : Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Canva, etc.
- Critically thinking and problem solving as well as taking initiative
- Must be local to the Southeast Texas Area for coverage of lab
- Must be available for Summers and extended days beyond class schedule
- Typical office hours between 7 : 30-5 : 00, some extended testing hours are required. Shift will vary for morning or afternoon.
- Work study is required
Physical Requirements Event set up and breakdown. May require some lifting of up to 20 lbs with tables, chairs, etc. Mail runs outside in elements as well as career event set-up may require working in outside elements.
Sitting, monitoring video recording equipment, conducting physical walkthroughs of the testing area for security and test integrity.
Due to the confidential nature of testing, no cell phone use or homework can be completed in the lab environment. Certifications Required Work Hours Shifts : Monday-Friday, 8 : 00-5 : 00;
Possibly assist with after hours events Job Conditions Indoor / office environment. Occasionally outdoors to assist with mail and events.
