Tetra Tech is looking for a Deputy Quality Control Manager (remote / hybrid) that supports the Operating Unit (OU) Quality Assurance Manager in all aspects of corporate and programmatic QA / QC functions.
- Includes auditing and reporting; developing, reviewing, and maintaining QA / QC tools; and developing and presenting training materials relevant to the OU main business lines, which include environmental restoration and compliance;
- fuels / fueling systems repair and maintenance, National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), biological and cultural services;
munitions response and unexploded ordnance; asset management of structures and utilities; facility master planning; and alternative energy.

Your Role :
- Supports the QA / QC Manager overseeing and directing the QA / QC program for the OU.
- Serves as the Quality Assurance Manager on multiple contracts
- Evaluates and ensures implementation of the QA / QC Program that is relevant to each client-, program-, and project-specific requirements.
- Develops and evaluates project management plans, project control plans, quality management plans, quality assurance project plans, audit plans, SOPs, sampling and analysis plans, work plans, reports, and similar documents and assures they include the appropriate QA / QC components.
- Interacts with client quality assurance staff to resolve comments on documents and processes
- Interact with quality assurance professionals from other Tetra Tech OUs for consistency and knowledge transfer.
- Conducts and reports on audits and surveillances
- Tracks quality incidents and associated corrective actions
- Trains staff on OU and corporate quality requirements, especially new hires.
- Supports program managers, project managers, and client managers on quality matters
- Directs staff in the application of QA / QC requirements
- Troubleshoots / facilitates solving QA / QC problems
Qualifications :
Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree from an accredited four-year college or university in an engineering or scientific discipline is required;
M.S is preferred. Emphasis on chemistry, environmental engineering, and / or environmental geosciences is preferred because of the nature of interactions involving environmental consulting contracts.
- Experience in construction QA / QC may also be considered advantageous.
- Formal training in the U.S. EPA or equivalent U.S. government quality systems is desirable.
- Candidates with a working knowledge of U.S. EPA, USACE, U.S. DoD, and U.S. DOE quality standards will be favored; candidates may be asked to demonstrate knowledge of these standards.
If the candidate does not possess this training, they must be willing to complete the training and demonstrate knowledge.
- International Standards Organization (ISO) lead auditor certification or Lean Six-Sigma training is considered a plus.
- Certifications by American Society for Quality including Certified Manager of Quality / Organizational Excellence (CMQ / OE), Certified Quality Improvement Associate (CQIA), Certified Quality Auditor (CQA) are also advantageous.
Must understand quality control and quality assurance concepts such as problem identification, root cause analysis, development of corrective actions, and process improvement.
The successful candidate will apply these concepts when conducting audits and surveillances, interacting with technical and administrative staff, and providing quality related training to personnel.
Must possess strong interpersonal skills, be detail-oriented, and have excellent technical writing skills. Being a self-starter is essential.
Must be able to travel up to 15- 25 percent of the time. Travel includes visits to OU offices and environmental hazardous waste sites in various states within the U.S.
Must be able to evaluate standard operating procedures (SOPs) and proactively engage the appropriate technically qualified OU staff to assure they are kept up to date with the most recent technical advancements, industry guidance, and / or regulatory requirements.
