Project Manager, The Tech Challenge Kenya
The Project Manager of The Tech Challenge (TTC) Kenya provides general coordination, budget tracking and scheduling support on all projects in this area.
This role tracks complex projects, coordinating schedules and staffing of US and Kenya based staff. This role ensures that projects are done completely and efficiently while adhering to project schedules, budgets, and quality standards.
This role is responsible for all phases of project planning and tracking, including proper organization of program materials, efficient communication of project goals and timeline and other project information to stakeholders inside and outside the organization.
This exempt role reports to the Director of The Tech Challenge, Kenya.
Responsibilities
- Project manage TTC Kenya and Kenya education expansion projects and events, including maintaining timelines, taking notes, scheduling, purchasing, and assisting with material sourcing and event coordination.
- Ensure effective project documentation and communication in all phases of a project.
- Support and oversee work of other staff (US based and Kenya based) who are managing or executing on aspects of projects, including helping to set up and manage project budgets, schedules, and work plans.
- Track project budgets; report to the Senior Director of TTC Kenya to make updates and changes.
- Coordinating external partners (including event volunteers, partners and stakeholders).
- Collaborate, engage, and communicate effectively with all departments, project teams, subcontractors, and partners to ensure all aspects of projects are completed on time, within budget and The Tech Interactive guidelines.
- Function as a subject matter expert (SME) in project management, improving project work at The Tech and contributing expertise to larger group meetings about institutional pedagogy and methodology.
- Complete additional related tasks or duties as assigned by the supervisor / manager.
Requirements and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
- 5 years of experience with project management in education, government or other non-profit.
- Strong management skills, including the ability to lead a team through multiple project phases at once, with the ability to respond to changing priorities and deadlines.
- Proven project management, documentation, and communication skills, and the ability to coordinate the work of a multidisciplinary and international project team.
- Computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, Slack, Google Docs, and Smartsheet.
- Experience incorporating IDEA (inclusion, diversity, equity, and accessibility) principles into project timelines.
Working Conditions and Schedule
- This is an on-site role with the possibility of flexibility for working some days at an alternative work location. Flexibility will vary depending on the needs of the job.
- Frequent weekend and evening hours to oversee project work done in San Jose and Kenya
- International travel is required several times a year (usually for 10-14 days per trip).
Compensation : $78,000 - $85,000 per year, based on experience and background.
