Job Description
The Core Research Facilities Financial Administrator (CRFFA) provides financial and administrative support for core research facilities at Syracuse University.
These facilities contain specialized instruments and personnel allowing fee-for-service use of the facilities to the research community, making research more efficient and cost effective. Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Five plus years’ experience in an accounting or research compliance position.
Job Specific Qualifications
- Knowledge of and familiarity with federal regulations and principles including OMB 2 CFR Chapter I, Chapter II, Part et al.
- Experience in higher education research administration strongly preferred.
- Solid understanding of financial systems and procedures.
- Experience with PeopleSoft financials strongly preferred.
- Exceptional ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders.
- Strong and proven verbal and written communication skills.
Responsibilities
- Reviews and approves new core facilities and equipment recharge rates for both internal and external users and annually reviews existing recharge rates.
- Coordinates with the Comptroller’s Office tax group to assess potential tax implications of external rates.
- Work with the Office of Sponsored Accounting and the Office of Research to support financial and administrative tools to support core facilities, recharge centers, and other related research tasks.
- Assists researchers in developing recharge rates and sustainability plans for new equipment funded by startup funds and sponsored projects.
- Ensures compliance with federal Uniform Guidance as it applies to core facilities.
- Coordinates with researchers and various administrative departments to identify opportunities to share research equipment and explore the creation of new core facilities.
