Job Overview

The Manager of Prospect Development at Children’s Hospital Colorado Foundation serves as a member of the Prospect Development business unit and provides research and pipeline development support to optimize fundraiser portfolios and fundraising activities across the Foundation.

The Manager works closely with colleagues in Prospect Research and Prospect Management to provide relevant proactive and reactive research on current and prospective supporters.

This role will support portfolio data management. In collaboration with the Foundation team, this individual ensures assignments, research, and key data on constituents are effectively and accurately maintained in the Foundation’s Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system.

The Manager will support the continued development of moves management and prospect tracking systems, working to adhere to prospect management guidelines and ensure related processes and procedures are upheld in support of increased revenue.

This position will report to the Senior Director of Philanthropic Development.

This position has no supervisor responsibilities.

Qualifications

Three to five years minimum experience in prospect research, prospect management, or experience in parallel fields of research, data analysis, or donor portfolio management.

Preferred experience in and familiarity with nonprofit fundraising best practices and ethics. Project management skills are desired.

Educational Requirement : BA / BS degree is required for this position. No equivalency for degree.

The Manager of Prospect Development will be / or will have experience with :

  • Knowledge of prospective donor research techniques
  • Familiarity with nonprofit fundraising best practices and ethics
  • Ethical professional; ability to maintain a high level of discretion and confidentiality.
  • Skilled at working independently and be a strong contributing team player.
  • Highly organized, accurate, and detail oriented.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to compose and format correspondence and reports with excellent editing / proofreading skills.
  • High level of computer proficiency, preferably MS Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook), PowerBI and Blackbaud CRM database.

Excellent administrative skills and a proven ability to produce results in a deadline-oriented environment. Creativity and flexibility.

Strong interpersonal skills, particularly regarding the judgment, discretion, confidentiality, patience, and understanding necessary for dealing effectively with a diverse body of professional colleagues and staff.

Autonomy, reliability, accuracy, and expedience in addressing duties. Willingness to learn new software as needed.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with Prospect Research and Prospect Management to optimize fundraiser portfolios

  • Advise on prospect assignments and provide insights on ongoing donor portfolio work and composition, keeping assignments updated in CRM and conducting regular audits.
  • Support donor pipeline development through the process of identifying, researching, coding, and assigning follow up for individual prospects with indicators of potential for greater engagement, locally, regionally, and nationally.
  • Partner with fundraising staff to utilize research to build effective solicitation and stewardship strategies.
  • Respond to prospect research needs and requests from portfolio managers, including biographic and business profiles, snapshots, screenings, and other needs with a focus on corporate and foundation prospects.
  • Build strong internal relationships across business units to support collaborative projects and ongoing efforts to improve pipeline development, movement, and revenue growth.

Support the quality of portfolio management data using applied best practices and ensuring data integrity

  • Ensures all researched information is accurately recorded in the CRM for easy access by current and future fundraisers.
  • Utilize online databases and resources, in-house data, and other references to conduct proactive and reactive prospect research to support identification of new prospective donors to help determine gift capacity ratings for portfolio optimization.
  • Serve on advisory and data governance committees as assigned

Special Projects

  • Monitor the Prospect Help email box and triage questions efficiently and appropriately.
  • As a member of the Prospect Development business unit, contribute to special projects, operational reviews, technology development and continuous improvement efforts and serve as a business unit and organization thought partner.
  • Adheres to all legal privacy requirements and ethical standards upheld by regulatory bodies and professional organizations

Customer Relationship Management (fundraising systems)- Leveraging digital resources and technological systems to compile and organize donor data;

create or suggest solutions to expand and enhance donor base.

Salary Information

Annual Salary Range (Based on 40 hours worked per week) : $67,000.00 to $91,000.00

Hourly Salary Range : $32.21 to $43.75
