We are seeking a Tax Staff Accountant. This position will work with a team of four people, the Corporate Tax Department at Old National Bank is responsible for preparing the Company's income tax provision, including tax footnote reporting, and preparing and filing the Company's federal and 30+ state income tax returns.

Other team responsibilities include : a) completing daily customer tax withholding deposits and returns filings; b) analyzing select purchases for use tax applicability and;

c) preparing other miscellaneous filings.

This position will also work with Accounting, Financial Reporting, Accounts Payable, Treasury and Payroll.

Key Accountabilities

Tax Accounting - Preparation of monthly income tax calculations and quarterly tax provisions utilizing OneSource Tax Provision and Workpapers software.

The staff accountant will be assigned certain companies to complete with the goal of progressing to the more complex entities.

Assisting with the preparation of quarterly tax footnote and other tax related financial reporting requirements.

Income Tax Compliance - Preparation of federal and state tax returns utilizing OneSource Income Tax. The staff accountant will be assigned select entities for federal preparation and select state returns with the goal of progressing to more complex entities and states.

This also includes the preparation of quarterly estimated tax payments and electronic submission of payments. Assist with the preparation of state apportionment workpapers.

Other Responsibilities- assist with the filing of various franchise, excise and information returns. Respond to notices from tax authorities via phone or written correspondence.

Assist with federal and state audits as needed.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
  • 3-5 years corporate tax experience with multistate corporation or public accounting firm
  • Advanced PC skills required (Microsoft Word, Access, & Excel)
  • Understanding of tax provision calculations and methodologies
  • Experience with corporate tax provision and tax compliance software, preferably OneSource
  • Banking or Financial Institution experience preferred
  • Completion of, or progress towards, CPA or MST a plus
