Operations Risk and Control Manager (REMOTE WITHIN FULTON BANK FOOTPRINT - DE, MD, NJ, PA, AND VA)

Overview

The primary responsibilities of this position are to lead and supervise the risk and compliance programs within first-line Bank Operations, including the development, execution, delivery and effectiveness of the programs.

Accountable for the documentation and effectiveness of risks and controls, including changes to the risk and control environment made through process automation, system implementations, mergers and acquisitions, and other projects and initiatives.

Incumbents in this position will provide excellent service to internal customers and by developing and maintaining the credibility of risk management programs and services through high-quality execution and oversight.

Incumbents will support the bank's risk management, issue management and complaint management programs through risk identification, issue validation, and management reporting.

Conduct research and provide recommendations to improve operational processes and controls.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise a team of risk professionals in the development, implementation, execution, and maturity of first-line risk management programs and services in accordance with applicable policies, framework, and governance documents, as well as peer and industry best practices.
• Responsible as workstream lead for documenting all risks and controls for cross-functional projects and initiatives in partnership with the control and process owners.

Document process-level risks and controls, including current-state processes and future-state process changes necessary to achieve efficient, repeatable, and compliant processes.

Identify and describe inherent risks in the bank’s operational processes, including consulting internal and external resources to identify current and emerging operational, legal, and compliance risks.

Complete risk and control self-assessments (RCSA) as needed.

Manage day to day risk and compliance activities in support of the lines of business, as appropriate, to identify issue root cause and, in partnership with the control and process owners, recommend holistic corrective action to address the root cause.

Perform validation testing of completed action plans to determine appropriateness and sustainability of the corrective action.

Write and execute test scripts, document results, identify root causes, make recommendations based on results, and communicate results to management.

Investigate customer complaints flagged as a potential compliance risk to determine whether the bank took the appropriate action and make recommendations based on those findings.

• Prepare and deliver periodic, high-quality reports, analysis, and analytics related to risk management activities. Manage the definition, development, and implementation of appropriate risk management metrics and measures, including key risk indicators, key performance indicators and key control indicators, as well as thresholds for measurement, escalation, and reporting.
• Lead the planning and execution of the risk management strategy and vision. Keep informed of new and amended legal, regulatory, operational, and market practices and communicate pertinent information including the best approach for implementing changes as appropriate for Bank Operations and the Company.

Complete additional risk management assignments as directed.

Qualifications

Education

Bachelor Degree or the equivalent experience. Specialty : Accounting, business administration, finance, or equivalent. (Required)

Experience

7 or more years financial services risk management, compliance, regulatory or audit work experience. (Required)

2 or more years supervision. (Preferred)

Certifications

CRCM, CERP, CAMS, Certified Internal Auditor, or similar license or certification. (Preferred)

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Intimate working knowledge of the US banking regulatory guidance and expectations (and sources) on safety and soundness (Required)
• Analytical and modern business computing skills (e.g., Office suite, Advanced Excel, PowerBI, Python) (Preferred)
• Working knowledge of banking processes, products and sources of risk (Required)
• Strong communication skills, verbal and written, to effectively communicate with a wide range of audiences including executive management (Required)
• Design Engineering or process management focus (Preferred)

This role may perform other job duties as assigned by the manager. This includes but is not limited to, understanding and identifying compliance risks impacting their department(s), ensuring compliance with applicable laws or regulations, and escalating compliance risks to the appropriate level of management.

Specific compensation offered will be determined based on a combination of factors including the candidate’s knowledge, skills, depth of work experience, and relevant licenses / credentials.

The salary range may vary based on geographic location.

The salary range for this position is $94,200.00 - $157,000.00 annually.

Additional Compensation Components

This job is eligible to receive equity in the form of restricted stock units. This job is eligible to participate in a short-term incentive compensation plan subject to individual and company performance.
