About Our Agency The South Carolina Department of Disabilities and Special Needs (DDSN) is the state agency that plans, develops, coordinates, and funds services for South Carolinians with the severe, lifelong disabilities of :
- intellectual disability and related disabilities
- autism spectrum disorder
- traumatic brain injury
- spinal cord injury and similar disability
Job Responsibilities
Ensure DDSN eligible participants are provided with residential services and supports in a timely and equitable manner.
Assist with high priority residential placement needs by providing technical assistant, guidance and support.
Serve as a liaison for residential moves from ICF / IID placements and other institutional settings to waiver funded residential services by providing guidance, technical assistance and monitoring.
Serve as backup support to complete residential moves in the Service Tracing System upon notification.
Seek information on residential vacancies to ensure vacancies identified are accurate.
Provide training for case management and residential providers.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Director.
Minimum and Additional Requirements
State Minimum Requirements : A Bachelor’s degree and years of relevant program experience.
Institutions of Higher Learning must be recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of standards, directives, and best practices relating to case management services, residential services, crisis management, home and community based waiver services and residential needs process.
Provide training and technical assistance through on-site visits, telephone conference, virtual meetings and / or written guidance to assist agency providers in achieving optimal contractual compliance results from reviews performed by the Center for Medicaid and Medicare (CMS), Alliant, DHHS, and internal reviews performed by the SCDDSN.
Collaborate daily with the Residential Review Committee in review of all residential requests received. Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
Ability to provide formal and informal training and technical assistance.

Immunization : If this position requires the applicant to work directly with DDSN consumers, a QuantiFERON TB Gold testing must be completed prior to beginning employment.
All new employees who are healthcare providers are required to provide documentation of immunity or be immunized against measles, mumps, rubella, pertussis, Varicella and Hepatitis B prior to beginning employment.
State Disaster Plan : In accordance with the State's Disaster Plan, which includes hazardous weather, DDSN employees may be required to work in times of an emergency or disaster.
