Full time hybrid role. Monday - Friday, 8 hours day shift. New hire training requires to be onsite full time approximately 4 - 6 weeks.
After training, employee required to be onsite a minimum of 1x a week.
As a full time hybrid Prior Authorization Pharmacy Technician at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Network Foundation, you will assist in supporting the Cedars-Sinai Medical Network pharmacists in the daily operations of the Pharmacy & Nutrition Services Department.
The Pharmacy Technician primary role is to assist the pharmacists, physicians and other providers in processing of prescription orders, prior authorizations, distribution and inventory management of clinic-administered medications, and obtaining and compiling clinical information.
All duties are performed under the direct supervision of a pharmacist.
What's this role all about?
- Communicate pertinent information to pharmacists, prescribing physicians, other providers, and / or office staff.
- Monitor and respond to e-mail and electronic medical record inbox / in-baskets messages and other communications in a timely manner throughout the work day.
- Assist in obtaining prior authorizations from insurance plans and coordination with pharmacies.
- Assist with data collection and entry when needed.
- Facilitate communication with clinics / departments regarding medication requests and issues pertaining to medication stock and delivery.
- Conduct chart or laboratory searches as necessary and transcribe relevant information into CS-Link
Educational Requirements :
High School Diploma / GED
Licenses :
CA Pharmacy Tech License
Experience :
- Prior Authorizations and UM : Experience at a healthplan or with processing medication prior authorizations
- Med Purchasing / Pyxis : 1 year experience in inpatient hospital, and / or relevant experience in pharmacy setting
- Health plan experience is preferred.
