Pay Range : $31.00 to $42.00 / hr.

WHAT YOU’LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR IN THIS ROLE :

• Guides the maintenance team and supports all aspects of the PIT maintenance as needed
• Coaches and mentor’s maintenance mechanics and technicians to ensure their development and understanding of PIT equipment
• Serves as a training mentor and assesses training needs of maintenance mechanics and technicians on PIT equipment
• Provides subject matter expertise for maintenance of all PIT equipment and PIT maintenance processes
• Assists with the installation of all new equipment to included training material, spare part list, creation of PMs and validates documentation, including drawings, schematics, parts list and work orders
• Completes plant work orders and preventive maintenance including servicing batteries and replacing wheels and tires.
• Ensures all plant PITs are functioning at optimum levels by performing short-term repairs and long-term improvements
• Trouble shoot and repair electrical systems on forklifts, man lifts and material handling equipment.
• Removes and replaces electric motors.
• Performs wheel / tires assembly changes.
• Cleans and maintains an acceptable level of cleanliness on PITs.
• Overhaul, repair, and adjust differential and hydraulic assemblies.
• Maintain electric charging equipment and makes minor repairs.
• Works with maintenance planner to implement maintenance schedule.
• Lubricate and perform routine preventive maintenance on forklift equipment, man lifts or other material handling equipment.
• Cleans and services wet-cell industrial batteries.
• Maintains maintenance log through use of CMMS application to document breakdowns, correctives, and PMs.
• Manages PIT inventory to ensure appropriate supply of parts on hand to maintain Fleet uptime.
• Performs other duties throughout the facility as assigned.
• Performs as trainer / SME on all PIT, material handling equipment matters.
• Minimizes Vehicle / Fleet downtime by implementing Fleet maintenance best practices.
• Serves as point of contact and subject matter expert for fleet repairs that require outside vendor services.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR :

• Knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems of battery-powered, material-handling equipment.
• 5-7 years of experience working with Electric and gas-powered forklifts, man lifts, stackers, electric carts, and battery chargers.
• Knowledge of basic electrical and electronic principles.
• Knowledge of bolt grade and torque specs.
• Best practices for maintaining parts and tools used in the trade.
• Ability to operate grinders, drill presses, air compressors, hoists, cranes, parts cleaning equipment, and modern test equipment.
• Ability to work from schematic diagrams, drawings.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate in English as it relates to the job and safety regulations.
• Must have a good attendance record.
• Must be willing to work weekends.
• Must be able to work in a team setting and follow instructions.
• Willingness to take on responsibilities and challenges.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :

• High School Diploma or GED; or two to three years related experience and / or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Valid California Driver License and clean record
• Forklift Certified

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS :

• Bilingual (English / Spanish)
• Three years of related experience

PHYSICAL DEMANDS :

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
• Able to stand and walk for extended period of time
• Environmental exposure-seasonal outdoor temperatures

HOURS & WORKDAYS :

1st shift : Monday Friday 6 : 00 am 3 : 00 pm and when business requires overtime and weekends are mandatory
