Laboratory Informatics Technical Lead / LIS Manager
Manages the daily operation of the laboratory information system to ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal laws and accreditation agencies.
Acts as the primary contact person for the data management process between laboratory personnel, vendors, IT professionals, and applicable stakeholders.
Builds a successful relationship with the LIS software supplier, opening broad communication channels to the software supplier and other individuals.
Consults with relevant professionals regarding laboratory data standards, procedures, and services using APHL core competencies as a template.
Plans and coordinates quality improvement efforts in conjunction with QA / QC coordinator through audits and various other methods.
Troubleshoots the laboratory information system and workstations or internet software or web-based cloud information to ensure results are not delayed and submitted in a timely fashion.
Performs administrative functions for users of the LIS and other relevant software applications. Works with various vendors to develop, establish, and troubleshoot appropriate instrument interfaces.
Assists laboratory personnel with various technological and desktop computer functions. Assists appropriate personnel to manage all security standards in compliance with all federal and state laws and with appropriate accreditation agencies.
Performs related work as assigned.
Experience / Qualifications Required :
Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, or a related area or a minimum of 8 years of professional experience in related IT fields with experience in areas such as IT integration, system architecting, analyzing, and implementing computer software and systems;
a graduate degree may substitute for some of the required experience.
- Computer or statistical programming language with coding experience, ability to read and write in PL-SQL and C++.
- Proven experience in working with HL7 messaging standards.
