Sales Engineer (Job Code : 1025)

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Responsible for establishing and maintaining technical engineering and commercial sales relations with customers
- provide support for program acquisition, including ensuring quality, cost, investment, timing and overall performance objectives are achieved
- develop and close sales for corporate automotive customer accounts including Ford, GM and other associated Tier 1 customers
- serve as principal sales agent to customers and convey customer needs, specifications and expectations to internal Project Teams and Management
- provide sales engineering support for HVAC Controls, Integrated Center Stacks, Switches, Multi-Functional Controls and Sensors for assigned OEMs and Tier 1 customers in North America
- identify and evaluate new business development (NBD) opportunities with current and prospective customers
- coordinate and review pertinent customer specific requirements, engineering activities and standards with other team members
- work closely with Project Managers to quote engineering changes to the customer during development of new projects
- complete numerous reports including PAL list and sales plans for assigned products and customers, including customer project updates and 5-year customer business plans
- support account maintenance / change management activities, including administering customer issues involving quality, design / test, manufacturing, logistics, service / warranty and program timing issues
- provide accurate financial budgeting for project development, customer tooling and customer needs
- provide the initial definition of the commercial terms and conditions with the final contract negotiations completed per the contract review process
- prepare and submit commercial and technical proposals to customers
- identify North America market trends and work with other Preh Departments on benchmarking competitors’ products and systems
- utilize and apply knowledge of RFQs, project evaluation techniques, business planning procedures, customer quotation costing, Six Sigma methodology, lean manufacturing tools, SCRUM, AGILE Project Management tools, EVC tools, costing methodologies, cost optimization tools, new product introduction tools, B2B new business development activities, pricing strategies, PMI methodologies, and Activity-based costing (ABC) to perform duties
- perform customer satisfaction surveys according to Preh procedures and keep track of scorecards for assigned customers
- maintain pricing overview for all assigned customers and products, including annual price changes and retroactive pricing adjustments
- ensure on-time payment of invoices through close interaction with the Preh Accounting Department and through regular review of the aging report
- and participate in VA / VE workshops together with other Preh Departments and customers.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education :
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechatronics Engineer, or in a related field of study (will accept equivalent foreign degree);
- Training : None;
EXPERIENCE :
Two (2) years in the position above, as a Technical Sales Engineer, as a Sourcing / Commercial Project Lead, as a Project Manager, or in a related occupation;
Other Requirements : Experience must include one (1) year use of all the following : Six Sigma methodology, lean manufacturing tools, SCRUM, AGILE Project Management tools, EVC tools, costing methodologies, cost optimization tools, new product introduction tools, B2B new business development activities, pricing strategies, PMI methodologies, and Activity-based costing (ABC).
