onsemi is seeking an experienced technical lead in analog / mixed-signal design to join a diverse, talented, and global methodology engineering team.

As a Design Engineer, your extensive experience and technical leadership will be critical to the success of the ASG team that develops, maintains, and deploys the analog / mixed-signal design methods and tool flows shared by new product and IP development teams.

You will also be responsible for driving continuous improvement and adoption of best practices by providing expert reviews, facilitating root cause analysis and corrective action plans, training engineers on approved design engineering processes, and maintaining analog / mixed-signal process and checklist documents.

The primary goal for this team is to drive analog / mixed-signal design execution improvement with a focus on product, packaging, and test effectiveness across AMG.

Responsibilities

  • Drive NPD execution improvement across AMG Division, focusing on quality, efficiency, and cost.
  • Collaborate within the onsemi AMG division NPD and Central Engineering teams.
  • Provide technical expertise, guidance, and support to other engineering teams.
  • Identify, develop, maintain, and deploy optimal analog / mixed-signal design methods and tool flows.
  • Maintain and improve relevant portions of onsemi engineering processes.
  • Guide upper management toward making sound decisions in your area of expertise.
  • Perform other duties as required.
  • Drive development and verification of state-of-the-art analog blocks and mixed signal CMOS designs which can be reused across different market segments.
  • Drive analog circuit requirements discussions, technical issues and other design aspects with internal teams and marketing to arrive at agreed upon product specifications.
  • Build / develop circuits based on an IP specification, drive the layout design and final IP characterization.
  • Execute state-of-the-art analog designs while following the best design practices with on-time quality design releases.
  • Propose innovative and creative solutions where necessary to meet customer & product needs.
  • Work diligently with the analog team members and others to accomplish project goals and meet schedule requirements.
  • Debug complex integrated circuit problems in the laboratory. Support team debug efforts as needed.
  • Perform bench characterization and support application engineering bench evaluation efforts.
  • Analyze design aspects related to DFT and collaborate with other teams to develop DFT strategy for block designs.
  • Document designs including architecture and circuit descriptions, testing procedures, and safety mechanisms.
  • Interface with test, product, and applications engineering to drive the design to a successful production release.
  • Provide technical leadership including IC specification, project planning, design team management, and layout supervision.
  • Close collaboration with system architects and product definers.

Qualifications

  • Analog design experience and proficiency in verification, documentation, and post-silicon validation. Includes broad understanding of integrated circuit design such as amplifiers, filters, BGAP circuits, oscillators etc.
  • High Power output stage design experience. Includes very low RDSon, high current, high power output stages driving capacitive and inductance loads.
  • In-depth knowledge of semiconductor devices like MOS transistors, BJTs etc.
  • Knowledge with behavioral top-level modeling and mixed signal verification methodology.
  • Knowledge of UNIX / Linux working environment.
  • Knowledge of multiple semiconductor design tools like Matlab, Spectre, Spice, Cadence design environment. AMS simulation experience is a plus.
  • Excellent written and oral communication.
  • Proven ability to work independently and in teams.
  • Hands-on experience in a lab environment working with sensitive measurement equipment and data acquisition.
  • Very good debugging ability in circuit operation, and device function.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering with 10+ years of relevant experience or Masters in Electrical Engineering with 7+ years of relevant experience in analog circuit design.
