Job Description
As Marketing Manager you will create the roadmap for success for the rest of the organization to follow in establishing leadership in chosen vertical market segments.
The Marketing Manager is responsible to develop, articulate, and drive market segment strategy with the goal of improving revenue and profitability.
They will work closely with other functional and BU areas (Sales, Pricing, Product Management, R&D) to drive strategy and align across organization on key priorities and respective segments.
Working with these other functions, the Segment Market Manager will identify product portfolio gaps and go-to-market strategies and then executes on plans to achieve growth targets.
This role may also leverage Amcor’s successes achieved in other Amcor businesses globally, as well as Global Business Group projects, and other innovation platforms to help establish Amcor as a market leader in chosen segments.

- Understand competitive landscape and craft specific plans to compete. Own and drive the multi-generational product innovation pipeline in accordance with market strategy.
- Market segmentation, sizing and analysis of areas of responsibility
- Market segment trends, data analysis
- Market Pricing
- Identification of Segment and Customer white spaces
- Competitor assessments, monitoring
- Collaborates with product management, commercial pricing and commercial excellence teams to effectively execute value+ and MTD actions that drive out cost and increase profitability
- Coordinate and facilitate commercial efforts on Plant Profit teams.
Leads B2B and B2C Consumer Insight Programs
- Leads initiatives to gain both B2C and B2B customer insights to help select and position new market segment entry marketing efforts including
- Focus group activities
- Ethnographic and Demographic studies
- Voice of Customer and Voice of Segment engagement studies for new targeted markets
- AGOP
- Association of consumer trends with packaging outcomes
- Collaboration with other Amcor business units to create unique value propositions as ONE Amcor
Strategy, Market Entry, Product & Platform Launch Execution
- Works with Amcor leadership team on go-to-market strategies in chosen market segments to deliver compelling value propositions to the marketplace and secure new volumes within vertical market segments
- Build relationships with key customers to make Amcor’s engagement wider and deeper.
- Collaborative ownership with R&D of new product platform pipeline and roadmap
- Cross BU and Inter-continental collaboration with Amcor marketing and R&D communities to identify pockets of growth led by market or product innovation
- Collaboration with R&D in selection of IP transfers globally in support of existing and new target segment growth / entry
- Strategy Plans - leads cross-functional development Strategy plans associated with targeted market segment entry including
- Lead annual Strategic Plan development
- Market segment research, validation and associated customer pilots
- Leading collaborative stage gate process for market entry and platform launch
- Product launch road-map
- Works with select customers to create unique value-propositions specific to Amcor’s product offering and segment growth plans
- Creates templates to effectively expand Amcor’s participation in chosen markets
- Works closely with sales, R&D and operations to help customers launch new packaging technologies
- Supports customers with new product launch process and helps guide their journey toward new packaging formats working collaboratively with machinery vendors, allied packaging material vendors, sales, R&D, and operations both within customer businesses and within Amcor

What We Want From You
- Bachelor’s Degree, MBA preferred
- Strong technical skills specific to flexible packaging
- Experience with projects involving new packaging materials, formats, and filling equipment
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Capable to motivate cross-functional stakeholders both within customer businesses, Amcor and at allied suppliers (equipment vendors, other packaging component vendors for rigid, paper, corrugate) toward desirable packaging outcomes
- Able to monetize the value of novel packaging technologies for customers in creating a unique value proposition that is compelling for various stakeholders within customer accounts
- Strong finance skills to help create business plans, contracts and capital expense justifications
- Strong understanding of the pharmaceutical and medical industry, product launch and strategic marketing within the industry
- Strong grasp of marketing fundamentals including Strategy Development, Product Segmentation, & Product Management
- Knowledge of key principles of packaging sustainability including life cycle analysis, and carbon footprint
