As a Banking Accountant , you'll be responsible for account reconciliation processes and state-mandated unclaimed property reporting, ensuring compliance with defined controls, standards, and regulations.
You'll serve as lead administrator on departmental systems, primarily our account reconciliation and unclaimed property systems.
You'll train department employees and provide technical support on departmental systems and procedures. You’ll also be challenged to recommend improvements to departmental operations and controls, streamline existing processes, drive efficiencies, and represent the department on operational and system project teams.
This position offers a hybrid work schedule and is based out of our corporate offices in Bloomington, IL.
How does a Banking Accountant make an impact?
Review and approve journal entries and account reconciliations prepared by department specialists, ensuring compliance with defined controls and standards.
Provide guidance to department specialists on research methods and actions needed to clear reconciling items within expected deadlines.
Analyze control reports at scheduled intervals, analyzing exceptions and variances in account balances. Assign and monitor completion of follow-up work.
Coordinate with Financial Reporting on required action for material items.
May serve as lead administrator on departmental systems. Research and resolve system-related issues. Recommend, develop, and implement improvements to departmental systems, operations, and controls.
Complete cost / benefit analysis on system upgrades to departmental systems and provide management with findings and recommendation.
Serve as departmental planner and lead tester on system upgrades.
Responsible for all operational and regulatory processes and activities related to unclaimed property administration and reporting.
Performs necessary tasks to recover corporate unclaimed funds as required.
