Description
Job Overview :
The Youth Programs Coordinator is responsible for implementing, coordinating, and supervising bilingual educational programming for Hispanic students, taking place both onsite at partner schools and Esperanza Headquarters year-round.
This position reports to the OST Manager.
Essential Functions :
Program Planning & Implementation :
Plan and implement youth programs Esperanza offers during in-school and out-of-school time, including established programs such as Mentoring Programs, Hispanic Youth Leadership Programs, Academic Programs, and Summer Programs.
Coordinate program schedules, ensuring all materials are prepared and available for students.
Facilitate existing curricula for specific programs assigned to you (FAFSA Clinics, Escalera & Casa) and develop original lesson plans for One-one-One Mentoring, Mentor Up and Ellos / Ellas, incorporating activities, discussions, field trips, and educational experiences.
Collaborate with the Assistant Director of Programs and Marketing Manager to create marketing materials that promote awareness and participation.
Planning and facilitating summer programs.
Coordinate / facilitate tutoring and homework assistance for students in the program.
Communication & Relationship Building :
Maintain open communication with parents, updating them on program progress and student needs.
Build and sustain relationships with schools to understand student challenges and support requirements for academic promotion and graduation.
Maintain open communication with student parents to ensure they know about the program and are aware of student's progress.
Refer parents and students to other Esperanza programs.
Participant Recruitment & Tracking :
Recruit program participants through effective communication strategies.
Track participant data using software systems (ETO & Starting Point) and generate monthly reports to monitor program participation in compliance with Esperanza and grant requirements.
Conduct surveys to measure program success.
Maintain tracking data spreadsheet to monitor students.
Collect intake and forms for reporting purposes.
Collaboration & Community Engagement :
Collaborate with other Esperanza program coordinators and staff to ensure a unified approach that enhances Esperanza's impact in the community.
Attend community events to promote programs and foster partnerships.
Participation in panels, conferences and other events to represent Esperanza.
Volunteer Coordination :
Recruit, train, and manage volunteers to support programming efforts, ensuring all processes and security measures are followed.
Professionalism :
Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor in all interactions.
Additional Responsibilities :
Perform other duties as assigned to support the mission of Esperanza.
Qualifications :
Associate's degree in education or a related field.
1-2 years of related work experience, particularly with adolescents and children.
Knowledge of adolescent / child development.
Classroom management and lesson plan development.
Passionate about working with students.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent interpersonal skills.
Computer literate.
Ability to thrive in a collaborative environment.
Reliable transportation.
Bilingual in English and Spanish.
Hours / Pay :
Office Hours : Will be discussed at the time of the interview.
Status : Full Time - Salary Non-Exempt. Eligible for benefits.
Pay : Starting $40,000 / year
Requirements
Training or Qualifications Needed :
Associate degree in education or a related field
Minimum of one or two years of related work experience
Experience working with adolescents and some knowledge of adolescent development
Strong written and verbal communication skills;
Strong interpersonal skills
Good computer skills
Able to thrive in a collaborative environment
Bilingual English / Spanish
Reliable Transportation Required.
