Overview
Our Maintenance Planner plays a vital role within the company and will contribute to the overall success and improved operations within Continental Cement.
The ideal candidate will have mechanical and technical aptitude. Planning and scheduling both routine and outage maintenance work.
Additionally, improving the efficiency and productivity of the maintenance workforce, service, companies, and contractors.
Providing the maintenance employees with detailed job plans, technical specifications, machine history, parts, and tools lists.
The planner shall work in an organized manner while utilizing the latest inspection and condition monitoring information.
The maintenance planner is also responsible for providing all the necessary information to ensure that all work is completed in a safe, efficient, and timely manner in compliance with environmental requirements.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Plan the weekly maintenance schedule.
- Check the validity of the work requests / gather all pertinent information.
- Improve the content and quality of information on work orders.
- Assists in coordinating the planning and scheduling of all major turnarounds of all equipment throughout the year and assists in the development of the yearly department budget, management, and follow-up once approved.
- Record and analyze data, initiating appropriate work orders when warranted and adding pertinent information to ensure comprehension by the technicians.
- Work with the maintenance inspectors and supervisors to clearly define the scope of work to be performed. Establish the preparatory work required prior to scheduled equipment downtime.
- Formally schedule and communicate preventative maintenance activities based on priority.
- Develop a detailed job plan with all the work sequences involved to complete the repairs efficiently & effectively, as well as equipment downtime and man-hours required.
- Develop a tool list specific to the job to be performed. Provide a parts list with reference numbers and exact location for every work order and ensure that all required parts are in stock before job scheduling.
- Initiates, authorizes, and schedules routine contract work and is responsible for ensuring administrative functions for appropriate cost control.
- Along with the maintenance team, the requirement for inspection of off-site rebuilds may be required.
- Provide technical expertise in specific areas of the cement plant, communicating effectively to various levels.
- Ensures entering of new equipment numbers and ensures the updating of equipment parts catalog.
- Work with the storeroom to update and maintain the equipment parts catalog, as well as develop equipment tool lists for specific jobs.
- In collaboration with the maintenance team, purchasing and storeroom, ensure that the inventory and soures of spare parts are consistent with the plant standards, plant equipment reliability and economic constraints.
The planner will ensure materials and parts conformity upon receipt.
- Assist in reviewing plant master plans and ensuring they are up to date.
- Determines the cost involved for parts / supplies and labor for each work order.
- Ensure that once a job is completed, the work order is filled out properly and that the pertinent information is entered into the machine history file.
- Coordinate with purchasing for ordering non-stock parts and materials as required by the job plan.
- Participate in the budgeting process.
- Utilize Maximo’ to manage activities.
- Remain active and knowledgeable in current safety regulations and guidelines, promoting overall plant safety.
- Perform 24 / 7 on-call maintenance supervisor responsibilities as schedule
Skills & Experience
- 4 or more years' experience in heavy industrial maintenance or education equivalency
- Mechanical aptitude
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suites
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing English required.
- Must be able and willing to perform as a team member and within a team environment.
- Be a motivated, self-starter, proactive and action oriented by character.
- Ability to meet on-call responsibilities associated with a 24 / 7 plant operation.
- Ability to pass pre-employment screenings to include physical, background check, and drug screen.
- Preferred : Post secondary level education from a two-year college, technical school, or equivalent program.
