OVERVIEW & HIGHLIGHTS

The Grossmont-Cuyamaca Community College District is seeking a qualified individual as a Marketing Communications Specialist.

  • The incumbent performs a variety of specialized District-wide marketing and communications support functions; research, write, and distribute information about the District;
  • create and design communications materials; provide administrative office support, including planning and coordinating activities and events;

provide assistance to District and College personnel regarding marketing, branding, and communications as needed.

ALL ABOUT THE JOB

POSITION INFORMATION :

Current Vacancy : District Services

Type of position : Full-Time Monday Friday

Anticipated Start Date : November 2024

Salary : Range CL-40 $32.20 $40.26 Hourly $5,581 $6,979 Monthly (based on 40 hours per week)

Initial Salary Placement : New employees start at Step A ($32.20 per hour) or B ($34.05 per hour) on the salary schedule.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE : Any combination of education and experience equivalent to : Bachelor’s Degree in journalism, communications, marketing, public relations or related field, and at least two (2) years of professional experience in public relations, marketing or journalism, news writing or related field.

VETERAN’S POINTS :

Veterans not previously employed by the District, with 30 days or more of service who become eligible for appointment by attaining the passing mark established for the examination, shall be allowed an additional credit of five (5) points and disabled veterans shall be allowed an additional credit of ten (10) points, which shall be added to the percentages attained in the examinations by the veterans.

Any applicant who claims veteran’s credit must submit Form DD 214 at the time the employment application is submitted.

ASSESSMENT PROCESS :

The assessment process for this position may include any combination of the following :

  • An application screening for initial qualifications
  • Supplemental training and experience screening, documentation(s) / certification(s) screening
  • Written examination
  • Performance examination
  • Oral examination

The District reserves the right to utilize a flexible pass point (cut-off) on any test part to meet the staffing needs as determined by the District.

If you participate in and fail any examination segment, you must wait a period of 90 days (approximately 3 months) to test again for the same classification during a posted recruitment.

ASSESSMENT DATES :

The following dates are tentative and may change depending on the needs of the recruitment.

  • Application Screening : Week of November 4th, 2024
  • Written / Performance Examinations : Week of November 11th, 2024
  • Oral Panel Interview : TBD
  • Final Selection Interview : TBD
