Major Responsibilities
- Establish and perform treatment programs for assigned Residents.
- Audit documentation, ensuring timely completion and compliance.
- Update OT plan of care for residents when clinically appropriate.
- Email patient updates to appropriate personnel in addition to providing paper instructions.
- Oversee treatments executed by COTA’s for clinical appropriateness, upgrading skills when necessary.
- Report Resident progress in meetings, attend care plans and actively participates in the facility Medicare UR Meetings.
- Enter daily digital billing information and clinical documentation in an accurate and timely manner.
- Update physician order recommendations.
- Timely follow up with interdisciplinary team when communicating patient issues and changes.
- Charts by paper and digitally notes in an informative and descriptive manner that reflects the therapy provided to the Residents, as well as the Resident’s response to the therapy.
- Conduct training programs for other workers / families in Occupational therapy techniques and objectives for Resident Care.
Qualifications
1. Education :
- Graduate of an accredited school of Occupational Therapy.
- Licensed as an Occupational Therapist by State of Florida.
Work Experience :
- Must have two (2) years’ experience in a skilled nursing setting.
- Experience with MDS and comprehensive care plans a plus
3. Job Knowledge / Requirements :
- Able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instruction, and procedural manual.
- Aptitude with digital documentation software, email, digital billing, and utilizing handheld devices, laptops, PC’s and IPADS.
- Competency with basic computer software Word, Excel, Outlook.
- Manage stressful situations, deadlines, and challenging patient caseloads.
- Ability to deal with resident and family concerns and use good critical thinking skills.
