The Academic Engagement Specialist is responsible for assisting in the development and maintenance of the program's strategic engagement plan, focusing on building relationships with key stakeholders, academic leaders, and partner organizations in the cybersecurity field.
This role will coordinate engagements, manage social media presence, and ensure effective communication between the Department of Defense (DoD) and academic institutions.
The specialist will facilitate various engagement activities, including webinars, symposia, and events, to align with program objectives.
Estimated Starting Salary Range for Academic Engagement Specialist : Salary starts at $110,000. Pay commensurate with experience.

Academic Engagement Specialist Responsibilities Include :
- Assist in the development and maintenance of the program's strategic engagement plan, including identifying key themes, messages, and opportunities for engagement with stakeholders and partner organizations.
- Coordinate and execute academic engagement activities, ensuring alignment with strategic goals. This includes setting up meetings with internal and external organizations, media representatives, and academic institutions.
- Build and maintain relationships with key cybersecurity academic leaders and organizations to foster collaboration and engagement.
- Manage the program's social media presence and collaborate with government Public Affairs Offices to enhance visibility and communication.
- Lead engagement activities by developing agendas, hosting visits, and organizing events, such as conferences, webinars, and in-person symposia.
- Draft digital content related to program activities, publications, and research initiatives to enhance communication among academic researchers and DoD stakeholders.
- Facilitate education activities and coordinate collaboration with DoD stakeholders and NDU staff across various areas, ensuring the quality and relevance of programs.
- Implement effective processes for evaluating program activities to ensure they meet strategic goals in a timely and efficient manner.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Academic Engagement Specialist Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested :
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Education, Communication, Public Relations, or Cybersecurity.
- Experience in stakeholder engagement, program coordination, or academic relations, preferably within a government or academic environment.
- Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with experience in drafting content for diverse audiences.
- Familiarity with social media management and digital communication strategies.
- Experience in the cybersecurity field or working with academic institutions.
- Knowledge of government operations and procedures, particularly within the DoD context, highly preferred.
- Must pass pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal.
