OneMain Financial is seeking an experienced Cloud Platform Principal Engineer / Architect to manage the integration of public and private cloud infrastructure.

The responsibilities of a Cloud Platform Principal Engineer / Architect is to focus on assessing, supporting, developing and implementing high-quality information technology architecture and establishing technology governance and standards.

Successful candidate will make recommendations to leadership on advancing our cloud strategy, technology adoption plans, application design and application observability with core objective of delivering best in class scalable solutions.

To be effective, a candidate should demonstrate a leadership mindset, strong operational experience, and an ability to problem-solve.

The best candidate should have exceptional communication skills, be knowledgeable about the latest industry trends, and be highly innovative.

This role is Hybrid . You should be located within a commutable distance to one of our offices located in Baltimore MD, Charlotte NC, Wilmington DE, Evansville IN, Chicago IL, or Dallas / Fort Worth TX.

Target base salary range is $180k - $215k, which is based on various factors including skills, work experience, and location.

In addition to base salary, this role is eligible for a competitive additional compensation program that is based on individual and company performance.

Job Responsibilities :

Architecture Design and Deployment :

Provide thought leadership towards a foundational strategic vision for OMF DevOps platform to align on direction with internal teams and executive leadership

Design and implement complex AWS architectures for high availability, resilience, and scalability.

Lead the migration of legacy systems to AWS, ensuring a seamless and risk-free transition.

Optimize cloud resources for improved performance and cost efficiency, utilizing tools like AWS Cost Explorer and Trusted Advisor.

Security and Compliance :

Architect solutions that comply with industry-specific regulatory standards (e.g., HIPAA, GDPR, SOC 2).

Implement and manage security tools and practices, including IAM policies, security groups, and encryption technologies to safeguard the infrastructure.

DevOps Automation :

Develop infrastructure as code (IaC) using tools such as AWS CloudFormation or Terraform.

Automate the deployment, scaling, and management of applications using AWS services like Elastic Beanstalk, Auto Scaling, and Lambda.

Performance Monitoring and Optimization :

Monitor, analyze, and optimize cloud resources using AWS CloudWatch and other performance tools.

Ensure business continuity through robust disaster recovery strategies and operational resilience.

Collaboration and Leadership :

Act as a cloud evangelist within the organization, promoting the benefits of AWS solutions.

Collaborate with IT and business teams to align cloud architecture with organizational goals.

Provide mentorship and guidance to junior architects and engineers.

Qualifications : Experience :

Experience :

Hands on, demonstrable experience delivering technical solutions in the AWS space with a minimum of 5 years' experience as an AWS Architect.

Proven track record of designing and deploying scalable, highly available, and fault-tolerant systems on AWS.

Experience documenting governance and workflows associated with cloud environments.

Technical Skills :

Expert knowledge of AWS services, such as EC2, S3, RDS, VPC, Route 53, Lambda, and IAM.

Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) and automation tools (e.g., CloudFormation, Terraform, Kubernetis, ECS).

Deep understanding of network architectures and data services for cloud environments.

Experience with enterprise migrations from on-prem equipment to cloud environments.

Soft Skills :

Excellent problem-solving abilities and analytical skills.

Strong communication and leadership qualities, capable of driving cloud initiatives and influencing decision-making processes.

Education : Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

Certifications : AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Professional, AWS Certified Security - Specialty a strong plus.
