We are seeking a dynamic and passionate Maker Space teacher to join our team.
Position Overview
The Maker Space Teacher will teach part-time in the Maker Space, integrating engineering, design thinking, and STEAM concepts.
The rest of their time will be spent collaborating with classroom teachers to design and implement STEAM, Project-Based-Learning, and Design Thinking opportunities.
Essential Responsibilities
- Teach Maker Space classes that integrate engineering Design Thinking, and generalized STEAM concepts.
- Collaborate with colleagues and administrators to facilitate Maker Space projects and opportunities for all students.
- Provide support when classes are in the Maker Space, ensuring a productive and safe environment.
- Teach tool safety and proper usage.
- Utilize 3D printers, laser cutters, power tools, hand tools, and other technologies.
- Manage the Maker Space and maintain its inventory of supplies.
- Build warm, authentic, positive relationships with students and parents.
- Serve as a role model for students.
Requirements
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in education or a related field.
- Alignment with Hillel Day School’s Mission and 7 core Jewish values.
- Enthusiasm for and experience with contemporary pedagogy, STEAM principles, and Design Thinking.
- Willingness to continually learn, improve, and experiment both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Strong organizational and detail-oriented skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Creative, flexible, professional, responsible, and possessing a strong work ethic.
