The Team Leader - Avionics Line manages day-to-day activities of team members to ensure quality workmanship is performed in an efficient and professional manner;
and oversees all aspects of assigned projects, including coordinating necessary resources, documentation and communication with team members and customers to guarantee timeliness and quality of projects.
In addition, this position inspects, troubleshoots and repairs aircraft wiring and avionics / instrument to meet manufacturing specifications, Duncan approved procedures, FARs and industry standards;
and performs as a Quality Inspector (QI). The Team Leader acts as a positive role model by mentoring team members, supporting company and shop decisions, and assisting in communicating and accomplishing shop and team goals and objectives.
Essential Job Duties
- 1. Oversees all aspects of assigned avionics line maintenance projects to ensure timeliness and quality in the completion of these projects by monitoring workflow of projects;
- managing utilization of parts for these projects; attending or ensuring a team representative is available at aircraft arrival, delivery and project related meetings;
allocating the appropriate team members to each project and assigning duties and responsibilities; and communicating with customers, company personnel, OEM's outside contractors and vendors as necessary.
Adjust team members and resources as needed.
2. Oversees, completes and maintains accurate and timely aircraft and project documentation / work order to ensure accuracy of forecasted and billed hours, appropriate sign-off language and accurate charges are applied prior to billing.
Assists team members in resolving squawks and participates in reviewing of the final invoice. Assists professionally and courteously in addressing customer billing disputes, concerns and work order reviews for work performed by avionics line team members.
3. Promotes growth and development of assigned team members to promote team cohesiveness and trust. Monitors and evaluates team members' performance in a professional, accurate and timely manner.
Recommends training needs and programs to the department manager and identifies and recommends training opportunities for team members.
Oversees and ensures active participation of team members in the departmental coaching program. Participates in personal and leadership development opportunities and demonstrates leadership, professionalism and expertise.
4. Proficiently troubleshoots, repairs, inspects and tests aircraft instrument and avionics systems to meet manufacturing specifications, Duncan approved procedures, FARs and industry standards, and completes all required paperwork in a safe and organized work area.
Performs in-flight troubleshooting and adjustments, and all duties as a Qualified Inspector.
5. Maintains current industry, equipment and FAA knowledge by attending factory classes, OJT, and by researching and reading technical documents, trade publications.
FAR's, etc. Assists lesser-experienced technicians in interpreting Company policies and the FAR's. Maintains training log and keeps it updated.
6. Able to work all alternate shifts of the department as needed, and accomplish road trips within the United States and abroad as needed.
7. Performs other duties as assigned by management.
Job Specific Requirements
- Licenses / Certificates : Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record; Qualified Inspector designation
- Attendance : Regularly scheduled attendance required
- Physical : Routinely lifts up to 50 lbs., occasionally up to 75 lbs.; read small print; identifies colors; repetitive motion;
- tolerates working in confined spaces and heights above four feet; tolerates products and materials associated with component maintenance;
tolerates standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, climbing and sitting
Environmental : Tolerates working in extreme temperatures and noisy environments
Education and Experience
- Associates degree in related field or equivalent required
- Minimum seven years related Avionics, Electronics, Airframe Maintenance or related experience required
- Five years related avionics installations on a variety of avionics systems and a variety of airframes experience required
- Previous leadership and supervisory preferred
