Summary
The Emergency Department Technician 2 job exists within the Emergency Department. The Emergency Department Technician 2 is an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or Licensed Nursing Assistant (LNA) who provides direct and indirect patient care duties under the guidance and direction or the Registered Nurse or Paramedic.
Responsible for patient support, environmental and supply management functions, as part of the patient care team. The EMT or LNA adheres to Emergency specialty standards and organizational standards, policies, procedures, guidelines, and protocols.
The ED Tech II reports to the Nurse Manager with daily shift supervision by the Charge
Nurse.
Education
High school or equivalent (GED).
Certification, Registration & Licensure
Required :
National Registry Emergency Medical Technician-Basic (EMT-B) or
National Registry Emergency Medical Technician-Advanced (EMT-A)
Basic Life Support - American Heart Association
Experience
One year of prior experience as an EMT or LNA.Evidence of experience working effectively and positively with patients, care providers, and the multi-disciplinary team.
Evidence of the ability to perform as a member of a team.
Responsibilities
Responds to requests for patient care assistance as delegated by the Registered Nurse (RN).
Maintainsskillleveltoperformpatientcaretasks, to include, intravenous catheter insertion and medication administration, asdelegatedbytheRN.
Maintains skill level to administer medications as delegated by the RN.
Collects and processes laboratory specimens.
Maintains department supplies and equipment.
Assists with clerical duties.
Performs job specific requirements and other duties as assigned.
Serves as a preceptor for new employees.
