Objective of the Role

The Chief Operating Officer (COO) will function as the General Manager, overseeing all distribution operations to ensure seamless order fulfillment, efficient logistics, and superior customer satisfaction.

The COO will be responsible for driving operational excellence, optimizing processes, and fostering a high-performance culture within the organization.

This role is pivotal in supporting the company's growth and maintaining its reputation for quality and reliability in the competitive NYC market.

Ideal Profile

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in operational leadership within the wine and spirits industry or a closely related field.

They will possess strong strategic thinking abilities, excellent organizational skills, and a hands-on approach to problem-solving.

The candidate should be adept at managing complex logistics, with a keen eye for detail and a deep understanding of supply chain management.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential for building and maintaining relationships with suppliers, clients, and internal teams.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily distribution operations, ensuring timely and accurate order fulfillment.
  • Manage logistics, including inventory management, warehousing, and transportation.
  • Develop and implement operational strategies to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to drive continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and vendors to secure the best products and negotiate favorable terms.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements related to the importation and distribution of alcohol.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing operations team.
  • Implement and maintain robust quality control processes to ensure product integrity.
  • Address and resolve any operational issues or customer complaints promptly.
  • Support the overall business strategy and work closely with the executive team to achieve company goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field; MBA preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in operations management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within the wine and spirits industry or a similar sector.
  • Proven experience in managing logistics, distribution, and supply chain functions.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory requirements for alcohol importation and distribution.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Strong negotiation and relationship-building skills.
  • Proficiency in using ERP systems and other relevant software tools.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
