ESSENTIAL FUNCTION OF THE POSITION :
Must have previous multi-facility MDS experience
Excellent leadership and decision-making skills
Proficient in the MDS 3.0 process including completion of the MDS and Care Plans
Demonstrate knowledge of state and federal regulations
Assist MDS nurses with in-services in facilities
Monitor / Audit Case Mix Index Scores and PDPM HIPPS Scores, looking for potential risks and / or
changes that may affect Reimbursement in facilities and educate staff as appropriate
Maintain current working knowledge of Medicare criteria, serving as a resource for facility
staff and communicate changes in regulations
Ensures / Audits documentation is present in the medical record to support the MDS
Completes accurate coding of the MDS with information obtained via medical records as well
observation and interviews with facility staff and the resident
Supports the tracking system of MDS schedules (timeframes and due dates)
Continually updating knowledge base related to data entry and computer technology
May participate in facility Quality Assurance when available
May complete electronic submission of required documentation to required databases and
other entities per policy
Perform additional duties assigned by Regional Reimbursement Nurses
EDUCATION / REQUIREMENTS :
RN Licensure within the State plus a minimum of two years of multi-facility MDS experience in long term care. LPN / LVN may be considered with exceptional qualifications, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must have current AANAC (RAC-CT) certification or obtain it within 90 days of hire.
