Alaska Aviation Manager & Director of Operations Reports to the Manager of Global Aviation based in Houston, TX. This position is based in Anchorage, Alaska and is responsible for overall management, administration and operation of Alaska Aviation which provides scheduled shuttle operations and other aviation support to the ConocoPhillips-Alaska business unit.
Your responsibilities may include :
- Leads the Alaska Aviation organization which includes a staff of 70+ full-time employees as well as contractors and a fleet of three De-Havilland Q400s, 1 twin Otter and 2 CASA 212 aircraft
- Develops, implements, and administers operations and safety policies and procedures for Alaska flight operations to ensure safe and efficient operation and maintenance of all Alaska-based aircraft
- Develops, implements, and manages a $48MM Alaska Aviation operating budget. Monitor the execution monthly and provide reports to management on a periodic basis
- Directs flight operations, maintenance, aviation support and business services organizations in Alaska Aviation in accordance with FAA standards and guidelines
- Enables strong aviation functional leadership and excellence through the talent management and strategic staffing processes
- Ensures the organization complies with federal, state, and local regulations
- Assists in developing & maintaining contractor / vendor relationships and ensures compliance with agreements
- Establish / Maintain working relationship with FAA and other government officials and ensure compliance with applicable regulations
- In collaboration with the AK business unit, develop plans to support the strategic goals of the business, evaluate against existing capabilities, and make recommendations (routes, schedules, equipment, etc.
to ensure uninterrupted support
- Delegate authority and assign collateral responsibilities, additional duties, and special projects to other employees, as required, to meet the support requirements of flight and maintenance operations
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Manager, Global Aviation and / or Alaska Business Unit
Basic / Required :
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer
- FAA Airline Transport Pilot rating
- 10 or more years of experience in the aviation industry
- 3 or more years of experience in a managerial role
Preferred :
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Aviation Management, Business, Engineering or foreign equivalent
- 5 or more years of experience in a managerial role
- Previous experience with operations forecasting and budgets
- Broad aviation background including knowledge of aircraft operations
- Knowledge, interest in, and skills needed to lead functional excellence in flight operations
- Ability to work effectively within policies, internal control standards, and staff department processes to achieve results quickly
- Excellent communication, negotiating and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated relationship management skills and leadership of cross-functional teams
- Effective team building skills - ability to lead, motivate and develop a team of aviation professionals
