Position Overview
The University of North Texas at Dallas invites applications for the position of Adjunct Instructor of Spanish for the 2024-2025 academic year.
Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Spanish, Spanish Linguistics or Literature, Spanish Education, or related field.
- Experience in teaching college or university level courses.
- Availability to teach day and evening face-to-face courses.
- Experience teaching online and hybrid courses.
- Demonstrated experience developing and teaching online and hybrid courses on the Canvas Platform. Evidence for excellence in teaching Spanish at the university level.
- Experience in teaching a range of Spanish courses, such as Elementary Spanish, Intermediate Spanish, Spanish for Heritage Speakers, and Spanish for the Professions.
- Willingness to teach Early College High School courses.
- Academic experience in recruiting and retention of culturally diverse student populations.
- Demonstrated effective written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications
- Ed.D. or Ph.D. in Spanish, Spanish Linguistics or Literature, Spanish Education, or related field.
- LOTE Spanish Certification.
- Demonstrated ability to inspire and motivate students in a learning-centered environment.
- Experience working with non-traditional students from diverse backgrounds.
- Knowledge of heritage speaker’s pedagogy.
- Experience in developing and implementing service learning and experiential learning in curricular and co-curricular settings.
- Experience in service activities for university and community.
- Physical requirements necessary to perform essential job functions.

Job Duties :
- Teaching online, hybrid and face-to-face classes in Spanish at all levels of proficiency
- Comply with departmental curriculum, grading standards, attendance policies, textbook choices, semester teaching evaluations, and other established procedures
- Return college reports, credentials, and other requested documentation in a timely manner
- Effectively communicate with appropriate staff and the Spanish program coordinator.
