Position Summary
We’re looking for a handful of motivated Accounting majors finishing their Junior year who want to experience a new way to apply what they've learned.
In return, we're offering you the chance to train on Wisconsin Sales & Use tax law and work hands-on auditing projects under the mentorship of senior staff.

Salary Information
Starting pa y is $23.41 / hour . This summer internship is a limited-term (LTE) appointment, with an expected start date in June and an expected end date in August.
There is a possibility for the position to continue part time hours through the fall academic semester. This position is subject to the terms of limited-term employment, with a maximum of 1,039 hours worked and no eligibility for benefits.
You will be able to choose which of our office locations you would like to work out of Madison, Milwaukee, Appleton, Green Bay, or Eau Claire.
Job Details
The Department of Revenue will conduct a criminal background check, fingerprint check, and tax compliance check on all finalists.
Applicants must be eligible to work in the United States. The Department of Revenue does not sponsor work or student visas, either at time of hire or at any later time.
DOR participates in E-Verify and will provide the federal government with Form I-9 information for all new employees to confirm authorization to work in the U.S.
Qualifications
Qualified candidates will have :
Be working to complete a bachelor's degree in accounting or auditing from an accredited university
and have completed 6 semesters of full-time coursework towards that degree by the time the internships start in June 2025.
- Experience using Microsoft Office suite applications (including Teams and Excel)
- Experience completing tasks that required having attention to detail, and an interest in Wisconsin tax law
- Experience working independently
Well-qualified candidates will have all that plus :
- A familiarity with Wisconsin tax laws and administrative rules
- Experience providing customer service (in person, written, over the phone, etc.)
Effective verbal and written communication skills are required and will be evaluated at a later stage in the selection process.
