Workforce Development Coordinator

The primary function of the Workforce Development Coordinator to oversee the daily operations of the Workforce Development Department by assisting veterans in finding employment, case managing clients with vocational barriers, and supervising Workforce Development staff in their efforts to provide career case management to veterans.

This position reports to the Program Manager of U.S.VETS at the site and receives guidance and direction from the National Workforce Development role.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees daily operations of Workforce Development Department including staff and Career Center.
  • Manages Workforce Development Department staff at the site, providing support and supervision to team to achieve their goals.
  • Ensures case management services are provided to clients enrolled in the Workforce.
  • Development program; includes addressing legal, educational, or health barriers.
  • Works with clients and staff to develop an employment plan.
  • Maintains primary responsibility for the tracking of the client’s progress through his or her particular program and documents such progress in the case note section of the client case file and / or on various workforce forms in the client file.
  • Assists with the preparation of proposals, budgets, and application packages.
  • Performs necessary tasks to achieve Workforce Program goals and compile data for reporting.
  • Responsible for reports and corrective action plans for workforce funders, such as Department of Labor and Call of Duty Endowment, and organization weekly, monthly, and year-end reports.
  • Uses a variety of local, regional, and national labor market information to assist clients in making informed employment choice.
  • Develop and manage relationships with senior level professionals and Human Resources managers that will open the doors for new employment opportunities for veterans.
  • Effectively use multi-channel sourcing activities such as social networking sites, career sites, professional organizations, etc.

Identify new employer opportunities through various business development techniques including cold-calling, following up on warm leads and attending networking events;

consistently research ways to create partnerships with local businesses.

Deliver organized, structured, and persuasive presentations that communicate.

U.S.VETS’ mission, goals, values, and brand.

  • Assesses clients’ need for supportive services and initiates appropriate supportive services.
  • Ensures a detailed case file is maintained on each client and assures that all veteran case files include a skill set assessment.
  • Secures meetings with company hiring representatives to present the organization’s programs and makes presentation of clients’ employment backgrounds to prospective employers.
  • Meets with referred clients to assess employment skills and goals and refer to job openings.
  • Develops and maintains a database of local area employers contacting them at least monthly for potential job opportunities for clients.
  • Oversees job readiness and retention classes for clients to increase marketable work-related skills for obtaining and retaining employment.
  • Works to place clients who have completed a retraining / vocational education program, as needed.
  • Coordinates Career Fairs, Job Clubs, On-the-Job Training Programs, and Work Therapy Programs with clients and prospective employers.
  • Handles special projects as required.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Requirements :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, Human Services, Social Services, or related field other related field preferred.
  • Minimum of four years of relevant employment experience may substitute for degree requirements.
  • Minimum of two years of supervisory experience in related field. Two years of employment at U.S.VETS may substitute for supervisory experience.
  • Experience working with homeless and / or veteran population preferred.
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse group of clients, staff, and community members.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Leadership and conflict management skills.
  • Demonstration of personal and financial integrity in the workplace.
  • Ability to take direction, work independently with minimal oversight, and to work within a team.
  • Computer proficient in Microsoft Office and Internet.
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks.
  • Must have strong presentation skills and possess the ability to interact with small, medium, and large groups.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Must meet company insurance requirements and complete a provided driver training course.
  • Experience dealing with clients possessing multiple barriers to employment preferred.
