Posting Text Chief Objective of Position Invite candidates with substantive expertise and demonstrated excellence in teaching in the program’s core areas of in geospatial science, geography, geoinformatics and environmental studies / science for undergraduate courses.
The specific courses involved may vary from semester to semester. Job Summary Teaching geospatial science, geography, geoinformatics and environmental studies / science courses as assigned.
Physical Demands All faculty must have at least a Master’s degree in the field / discipline in which they are teaching with 18 hours of course work related to the course(s) being taught.
In some cases, subject to the approval by the Provost, a faculty member could be recommended for appointment based on substitution of significant experience for the degree.
- Required Qualifications Teaching experience desirable;
- Strong communication skills;
- Experience assessing classes;
- Knowledge of regional, physical and cultural geography;
Classroom management skills. Preferred Qualifications Adjunct faculty must hold an advanced degree or equivalent credentials based on experience consistent with accreditation criteria of the discipline and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS).
Education All faculty must have at least a Master’s degree in the field in which they are teaching with 18 graduate hours of course work related to the specified discipline.
In some cases, subject to the approval by the Provost, recommendation for appointment may be based on the substitution of significant experience for the degree.
A memo from the Dean placed in the instructor’s personnel file is required to justify an exception to the accreditation standards of SACS and must include certification of the knowledge and skills.
