Summary
The Director of Maintenance leads and develops ATS Maintenance Personnel, Facilities, and Terminal Yards across multiple locations.
This role requires a highly motivated and engaged individual, responsible for enhancing the strength and growth of ATS Maintenance.
They will provide a vision for maintenance shop solutions and execute the road map to accomplish objectives. This will include cross-functional responsibilities in areas of strategic department improvements, and internal ATS relations management with other divisions on behalf of ATS Maintenance.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university; or 6+ years related experience and / or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience in the transportation industry.
- 3+ years of director-level leadership experience required for the P&L of annual budget expenditures to actual cost.
- Experience in team building and collaboration with business leaders, 3rd parties, and internal staff.
- Outstanding coordination, facilitation, consultation, and conflict resolution skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage and prioritize workload in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong analytical and data visualization competency experience is required.
- Strong interpersonal skills; able to establish trust and rapport with all levels of staff. Able to relate effectively to diverse cultures.
- Knowledge of scorecard reporting on internal and external metrics.
- Must be able to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
- Must be able to both think creatively and provide creative contributions to projects.
- Must demonstrate a proactive commitment to ATS corporate values and the success of all staff.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook) required.
- Excellent communication skills (written, listening, and verbal).
- Willing and able to travel infrequently, including overnight travel.
Essential Responsibilities and Expected Outcomes
- Provide leadership and oversight for ATS Maintenance Personnel, Facilities, and Terminal Yards.
- Directly and / or indirectly supervise Shop Managers, Service Leaders, Technicians, and Parts staff. Resolve most complex business problems for those on the team.
- Accountable for shop productivity and repair quality, partnering with Shop Managers.
- Develop continuous improvement activities by reviewing, changing, and improving processes in line with changing customer expectations / organizational goals.
- Resolve customer concerns related to maintenance; develop strong relationships with key stakeholders through frequent and professional communication.
- Manage the staff, budget, team goals and objectives, projects, processes, and support activities related to the development and integration of the team.
- P & L responsibility; Effective management of the department's annual operating budget (including for inside and outsourced PMs and Repairs), cost center, AP, and AR.
- Responsible for monitoring performance, research workflow process, conducting strategic meetings with stakeholders, administering the budgeting process, and ensuring programs comply with state and federal regulations.
- Provide day-to-day direction to the team to ensure customer needs are met. Assist with questions, provide guidance, and take escalations as needed.
- Provide effective employee performance management utilizing SMART goals, constructive feedback, coaching for improvement, and progressive discipline.
- Partner with Human Resources in the recruiting, interviewing, selection, onboarding, and training of new employees to create a positive candidate experience.
- Projects a favorable image of the company to promote its objectives and foster and enhance public recognition and acceptance of all its areas of endeavors.
- Develop strong working relationships with others throughout the entire organization; utilizing partnerships to help each area succeed and maximize ATS results.

e., forms, procedures, technologies, and strategies).

- Carry out managerial and leadership responsibilities in accordance with ATS’ policies and applicable laws.

- Complete work responsibilities outside of normal business hours as needed and infrequent travel may be required.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
