The Lawrenceville School invites nominations and applications for the position of Dean of campus well-being.

Founded in 1810, The Lawrenceville School, one of the country’s premier independent schools, is located in central New Jersey, five miles south of Princeton, 55 miles south of New York City, and 40 miles north of Philadelphia.

Lawrenceville attracts outstanding students in grades 9-12, plus postgraduate students. The School’s 823 students hail from 39 states and 32 countries, with 70 percent boarding and 30 percent day students.

Thirty-two percent of students receive $15.1 million in need-based financial aid grants, and 53 percent are students of color.

Lawrenceville has 375 full-time employees, including 109 full-time teaching faculty.

THE ROLE OF THE DEAN OF CAMPUS WELLBEING

The Dean of Campus Wellbeing, a recently created position that presents an opportunity to contribute to a healthy and joyful campus culture, will be responsible for bringing a public health mindset and a systems and solutions-oriented approach to our efforts to support student wellbeing.

The Dean of Campus Wellbeing, with a creative, entrepreneurial mindset and a deep understanding of how to promote healthy communities, especially in terms of adolescent mental and behavioral health, will take a proactive, school-wide approach to reinforce positive campus culture.

As a member of Senior Staff and a direct report to the Assistant Head of School for Student Life, the Dean of Campus Wellbeing is recognized as a visible and engaged campus leader who partners with school leadership, faculty, and outside partners to promote student wellbeing.

The Dean will set an excellent example of professional conduct, personal commitment, and a positive attitude. They will build rapport with Lawrenceville community members to increase our focus on the community's health and safety, particularly in student health, personal growth, and overall wellbeing.

The Dean of Campus Wellbeing ensures that wellness programs and initiatives are integrated into the community by facilitating continuous communication among families, students, and faculty and staff.

The Dean has a pulse on wellness service trends and industry best practices, both within education and within a broader societal context, and introduces successful practices to the School that promote overall student and community wellbeing.

Primary responsibilities include :

Wellness Oversight and Leadership Assume a visible role and be fully present in the creation and leadership of wellness-related public health programs for students and adult community members.

Partner with key stakeholders to develop and inspire an inclusive and integrated approach to student wellness support services at Lawrenceville.

  • Collaborating with key stakeholders, support the implementation of clear policies and processes that enhance holistic health and wellbeing programs, student wellbeing, industry best practices, and evidence-based programming and services.
  • Student Wellbeing In partnership with the Deans Group, Level Directors, and Heads of House, integrate a robust wellbeing experience into the academic, co-curricular, House, advising, school culture, and athletic experiences to foster a better balance for community members.

Working with the Deans and Docs Group, contribute to the evaluation of assessment and reporting from the student wellbeing perspective.

Liaise with the Dean of Faculty and Director of Human Resources to develop and identify programs for employee wellbeing.In collaboration with Health & Wellness Center, DoS office, Student Activities Coordinator, develop and coordinate programming that supports student wellbeing - examples include Wellness Day, Mental Health Awareness Month, and outside trainers / speakers
