Assistant Driller

The Opportunity :

An Assistant Driller is responsible for a variety of field centric duties including, driving the drill rig or semi-truck and trailer, which requires Class A CDL with air brake endorsement (SME will assist you in obtaining your Class A CDL), maintaining the drill rigs, troubleshooting equipment problems, and working with a Driller to complete assignments using various drilling and sampling techniques.

Responsibilities :

• Assist and work with a lead Driller to complete assignments using various drilling and sampling techniques, including lifting and other manual work as required.
• Perform specialized and intricate tests on construction materials and components to verify quality standards are consistently met.
• Prepare detailed reports that encompass complex field observations, precise test results, and sophisticated analysis of construction processes.
• Work with Driller Mentor and traffic control subcontractors to SME when required for roadway work projects.
• Work safely and alert others to potential safety hazards.
• Utilize your advanced problem-solving skills to identify and resolve complex construction challenges efficiently.
• Use construction technology tools and software to streamline data collection, reporting, and project management processes.
• Take an active role in training and developing junior staff members, fostering their growth and expertise in the construction field.
• Stay updated with the latest industry advancements, trends, and best practices to continuously enhance your skills and expertise.

Core Competencies :

Basic construction competencies including ability to determine location from surface features and landmarks by interpretation from surveys, road maps, aerial photos, topographic maps, and geologic maps;

understanding construction stakes set by others, and color markings of utility companies.
