Summary :
The Community Engagement and Outreach Manager is responsible for fostering meaningful relationships between the Museum and local, diverse communities.
By actively cultivating partnerships and addressing the unique needs of external groups, this role strengthens the Museum's mission to provide inclusive, high-quality science learning opportunities for all.
Key Responsibilities :
Community Partnership Management :
Build and maintain 30-50 relationships with external organizations and community groups, fostering equitable access to science education.
Data Collection & Evaluation :
Collaborate with the Research and Evaluation team to measure program impact through 5-10 research initiatives annually, ensuring programming meets community needs.
Heritage Month Celebrations :
Assist with planning, marketing, and recruiting for 6-8 weekend events each year, promoting diverse cultural experiences within the Museum.
Bilingual Program Development :
Contribute to the creation of 20-25 bilingual products per year, in collaboration with the MOS en Español team, to engage both English and Spanish-speaking communities.
Event & Program Coordination :
Support and host 25-40 outside organizations using the Museum's community space, ensuring smooth coordination and integration into Museum activities.
Outreach & Engagement Strategy :
Work with internal teams to develop strategies that enhance visitor engagement, communication, and access, supporting 2-4 spotlight initiatives annually.

Actively engage in community efforts, ensuring equitable access to Museum resources for underserved populations.
Data & Engagement Systems :
Develop systems for tracking community engagement and gaps, ensuring the Museum reaches underrepresented groups.
Cross-Departmental Collaboration :
Facilitate communication and alignment between departments to create inclusive, accessible, and culturally relevant programming.
Support Heritage Celebrations :
Collaborate with senior leadership to ensure diverse communities are integrated into Heritage Month events, amplifying their cultural significance.
Bilingual and Accessible Offerings :
Lead the design and implementation of bilingual products, enhancing accessibility for Spanish-speaking visitors.
Community Space Management :
Oversee the Museum's community space use, ensuring efficient operations and responsiveness to the needs of external groups.
Community Listening Pathways :
Develop channels for the Museum to listen to and learn from communities excluded from full participation in science, creating more relevant educational experiences.
Qualifications :
- Post-high school coursework or associate's degree in a related field required.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in STEM education, community engagement, or related fields.
- Proven ability to develop and implement effective outreach strategies in diverse community settings.
- Bilingual (English / Spanish) preferred.
- Experience working with Smartsheet, Salesforce, and Salesforce Marketing Cloud preferred.
- Strong organizational, communication, and project management skills.
- Ability to lift 30-50 pounds of equipment / supplies as needed.
